Prominent Lawyer Takes Aim at Actor Over Ingratitude, Points Out Legal Grounds for Parents to Sue
Prominent lawyer Songkan Achariyatrip publicly criticized actor Naphatthorn for publicly disowning his mother, warning that parents can sue ungrateful children under Thai law for damage to their reputation and assets.
Prominent lawyer Songkan Achariyatrip has posted a statement addressing young actor Naphatthorn's recent interview about his relationship with his mother Moo Pimpika.
In the Facebook post, Songkan wrote: "Whether Naphatthorn is a famous actor or not, I don't know and I don't care. But the fact that he dares to publicly disown his mother on social media is truly outrageous. Gratitude and respect for one's benefactors are fundamental to human dignity. Remember this well. Under the law, if a child causes their parents to suffer shame or damage to their reputation, they should be careful about such ungrateful behavior. We are warning Naphatthorn to reconsider while there's still time. But if he ignores this warning, so be it. Parents can file suit to recover assets from an ungrateful child under Section 531 of the Civil and Commercial Code."
