Update on the arrest of Ming Chen Sun, a 31-year-old Chinese national, who was apprehended after his car overturned in Sattahip district, Chon Buri province. When emergency responders arrived to assist, they discovered a rifle magazine inside the vehicle, leading to a search of his residence where authorities uncovered an extensive weapons cache including 2 M16 rifles, 9 M16 magazine pouches, 763 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition, C4 explosives totaling 4,832.4 grams, 4 Russian POMZ2 anti-personnel mines, 4 BA/WA type hand grenades, 1 Korean K75 grenade, 1 Myanmar M6/01 grenade, 7 electric detonators, 3 PONZ2 mine fuzes, 2 PONMZ2 safety pins, 2 remote control units, 3 body armor vests, 2 gas masks, 6 gas mask filters, and 4 twenty-liter drums of gasoline.
On May 9, officers from Nong Chom Thian Police Station brought Ming Chen Sun in for fingerprinting before being remanded in custody at Pattaya Provincial Court. The suspect displayed signs of severe stress throughout the process, expressing suicidal thoughts and revealing he suffers from depression requiring daily medication, particularly sleeping pills at night. Authorities are maintaining close supervision of his condition. Investigators confirmed that one of the recovered rifles belonged to Sai Yai Police Station, though it remains unclear whether it was stolen or illegally sold.
