Rangsiman Rom has taken charge of the Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee, which plans to inspect Bangkok's special prison on May 22 and investigate government operations across the justice sector.
The Law, Justice, and Human Rights Committee held its first meeting with Rangsiman Rom presiding, while former Justice Minister Thawee Sodsong and Chusak Sirinill were appointed as advisors. The committee plans to visit Bangkok's special prison facility on May 22. According to reports from parliament on May 15, 2025, the committee's leadership has been finalized with Rom as chairman and four vice-chairs including Piyarat Jongtep, Supchai Jaisamut, Ongacha Wongprayoon, and Radkaew Intoong Suwanakiri. Romthan Panchor serves as secretary, with Loufang Banditterdskul and Wantreedhida Aticcha as spokespersons. Other notable figures including former Justice Minister Thawee Sodsong, Democrats party leader Sathit Wongsamrit, and Chusak Sirinill have joined as committee members and advisors. During the meeting, Rom emphasized that the committee serves as the most important mechanism for collaborative work among all parties, with the primary objective of protecting national interests. The committee scheduled all future meetings for Thursday afternoons to ensure efficient operations. Under Article 129 of the 2017 Constitution, the committee has broad powers to investigate government operations, request documents and information, and summon officials from civil servants to ministerial level. The committee will conduct its inspection of the Bangkok special prison under the Department of Corrections on Friday, May 22, which is expected to address significant justice sector issues intensively.
