1h ago Khaosod

The Thai Meteorological Department issued its fourth alert warning of powerful southwestern monsoon winds across the Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand from July 10-15, 2025. Waves in the upper Andaman are expected to reach 2-4 meters, with areas experiencing thunderstorms seeing waves exceeding 4 meters. The upper Gulf and lower Andaman will see waves of 2-3 meters, rising above 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. Mariners are urged to navigate cautiously and avoid thunderstorm zones; small boats should remain ashore during this period.

From July 11-14, very heavy rainfall is forecast for southern Thailand's western coast, western central region, and eastern provinces, particularly Ranong, Phang Nga, Chanthaburi, Trat, and Kanchanaburi. Residents should prepare for flash flooding and overland flow, especially in foothill areas and low-lying zones near water channels.

Typhoon Bavi in the Pacific is expected to cross Taiwan and make landfall in China's Fujian Province on July 11-12, and will not directly impact Thailand. However, the storm will intensify the southwestern monsoon affecting the country. The Meteorological Department advises the public to check weather conditions before traveling and to monitor updates at www.tmd.go.th or by calling 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182. The next alert will be issued on July 10 at 5 p.m.

French head coach Didier Deschamps was pleased with France's advancement to the World Cup semi-finals for the third consecutive time, while Morocco's head coach Mohamed Walid Regragui acknowledged disappointment but expressed confidence in his team's bright future.

In the 2026 World Cup quarter-final on July 9, France, the defending runner-up, defeated Morocco 2-0. Goals came from Kylian Mbappé in the 60th minute and Ousmane Dembélé in the 66th minute. Mbappé also missed a penalty kick in the 28th minute.

France has now reached the World Cup semi-finals three consecutive times, following their 2018 world championship and 2022 runner-up finish. They await the winner of the Spain-Belgium match scheduled for July 14.

Deschamps stated: "This is our third consecutive World Cup semi-final appearance, which is certainly a positive thing. Of course, it's because I have exceptional players; without them we couldn't have reached this point. We're now where we want to be. After this, we'll rest and see who our next opponent will be."

Regragui said: "Our team's future will be bright if everything continues in this direction. This result is certainly disappointing. We did everything we could, but we faced a very strong opponent. We will continue working for the future."

Man Kills Wife, Claims She Turned Into Demon

A heavily intoxicated man strangled his wife to death in a rental room after claiming to see her face transform into a demon. He then reported the incident to the room attendant. Police suspect the incident resulted from drug-induced hallucinations.

At 4:30 a.m. on July 10, 2025, Lieutenant Gawin Chuinok of Muang Chachoengsao Police Station received a report of a young woman who had been fatally assaulted in a rental room, a two-story row house in Moo 3, Ban Suan Subdistrict, Muang District, Chachoengsao Province. Upon receiving the report, officers immediately traveled to the scene accompanied by on-call doctors from Chachoengsao Hospital and rescue staff from Thammarasmee Manirat Foundation.

The incident occurred in an unnamed two-story rental room, unit 326 on the second floor. Inside, police discovered the body of Pipi Moke, 24, a Myanmar national, lying deceased. Examination revealed bruising around the neck consistent with strangulation. Officers cordoned off the area and photographed the evidence.

At the scene, police apprehended So Suso, 23, a Myanmar national and the victim's husband, who was the perpetrator. At the time of arrest, So Suso appeared intoxicated and was experiencing hallucinations, speaking incoherently. Officers took him to calm down before further questioning at Muang Chachoengsao Police Station.

According to questioning of Ms. Da (pseudonym), the room attendant, she recounted that after the incident, So Suso came to tell her "Fen has died," referring to the victim by her nickname. The victim's brother then rushed upstairs to check the room and found the body lying motionless. They attempted to perform CPR but were unable to save her.

The room attendant further revealed that the perpetrator told people in the building that he saw his wife transform into a ghost and a demon, which prompted him to commit the act. It is believed the incident resulted from intoxication or hallucinations caused by drugs, though the specific substance involved remains unclear.

Police have taken So Suso into custody for detailed questioning to determine the true cause of the incident. They are awaiting official autopsy results from medical examiners before proceeding with legal charges.

Haaland: Norway's World Cup Chances Still Slim

Erling Braut Haaland, Norway's star striker, has reiterated that the Viking nation's chances of winning the 2026 FIFA World Cup remain very slim. Norway recently defeated Brazil 2-1 in the Round of 16 and will face England in the semi-final. Speaking about their World Cup prospects, Haaland said the odds are still very much against them. "I think there are clear favorites already, and England is one of them. I reckon you all (the media) will put all the pressure on the English players," he said with a laugh. "It's a special match for me personally because I play in England and was born there, so you'll be facing teammates and everything," he added. "It will be fun and it should be a good match."

39 Provinces Brace for Heavy Rain, Rough Seas Through July 15

Heavy rain and rough seas are expected across 39 Thai provinces through July 15 as a strengthening southwest monsoon and low-pressure system bring flash flood and landslide risks, particularly to the South and Northeast.

39 Provinces Brace for Heavy Rain, Rough Seas Through July 15
2h ago Khaosod

Thailand's Meteorological Department forecasts continued heavy rainfall across 39 provinces over the next 24 hours, with increased precipitation expected in the South. The North, Northeast, and East regions will experience scattered heavy downpours due to a strengthening southwest monsoon over the Andaman Sea, Thailand's waters, and the Gulf of Thailand, combined with a low-pressure system hovering over northern Vietnam. Residents in affected areas are warned of dangers from heavy and accumulated rainfall that could trigger flash floods and landslides, particularly in hilly terrain and low-lying areas.

Wave conditions are intensifying across the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand. The upper Andaman Sea is experiencing relatively strong winds with waves 2–3 meters high, exceeding 3 meters during thunderstorms. The lower Andaman Sea and upper Gulf of Thailand have waves around 2 meters, rising above 2 meters in thunderstorm zones. Fishermen are advised to exercise caution and avoid thunderstorm areas, with small boats in the upper Andaman Sea instructed to remain ashore through July 15.

Separately, Typhoon Bavi, currently in the Pacific Ocean, is expected to pass through Taiwan and make landfall on China's eastern coast between July 11–12. The typhoon will not impact Thailand, though travelers to affected regions should monitor weather conditions before departing.

Detailed regional forecasts include: Northern region with 60% thunderstorm coverage and heavy rain in Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Phayao, and Nan provinces; temperatures 22–26°C low, 29–32°C high; southwest winds 10–20 km/h. Northeast region with 40% thunderstorms and heavy rain in Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Sakon Nakhon, and Nakhon Phanom; temperatures 23–26°C low, 30–34°C high; southwest winds 10–20 km/h. Central region with 40% thunderstorms in Uthai Thani, Nakhon Sawan, Ayutthaya, Lopburi, Saraburi, Kanchanaburi, and Ratchaburi; temperatures 24–26°C low, 35–36°C high; southwest winds 10–25 km/h. Eastern region with 40% thunderstorms and heavy rain in Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat; temperatures 24–28°C low, 32–34°C high; southwest winds 20–35 km/h; waves approximately 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas. Southern region (east coast) with 30% thunderstorms mainly in Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, Phatthalung, Songkhla, Yala, and Narathiwat; temperatures 23–26°C low, 33–36°C high; waves 1–2 meters near shore, 2 meters offshore, exceeding 2 meters during thunderstorms.

France Advances To World Cup Semis, Beats Morocco 2-0

France advanced to the World Cup semifinals with a 2-0 quarterfinal victory over Morocco on July 10, with Kylian Mbappé scoring his record-breaking 20th tournament goal in the 60th minute.

France Advances To World Cup Semis, Beats Morocco 2-0

France controlled much of the first half against Morocco but could not find the breakthrough, finally earning a 2-0 victory in the 2026 World Cup quarterfinals on July 10 at Gillette Stadium in Boston, Massachusetts. France came into the match after narrowly beating Paraguay 1-0 in the round of 16, while Morocco arrived in devastating form, crushing Canada 3-0. Despite dominating possession and creating 13 chances in the first 45 minutes, France could not capitalize; Kylian Mbappé's penalty kick was saved and the half ended scoreless.

In the second half, France accelerated their attack. In the 60th minute, Mbappé finally broke through, scoring to level Lionel Messi's record of eight World Cup goals and extending his own tally to 20 tournament goals—the all-time record. Just six minutes later, Ousmane Dembélé added a second goal, putting France up 2-0. Though Morocco attempted to mount a comeback, their attacking play lacked sufficient bite, and France held on for the victory.

France advances to face the winner of the Spain versus Belgium quarterfinal on July 15 at AT&T Stadium in Dallas, Texas.

Norway Jersey Sells Out Across Europe Ahead of England Clash

Norway's national team jerseys sold out across Europe ahead of a World Cup semi-final against England on July 11, with the Norwegian Football Association vastly underestimating demand after orders jumped from 50,000 to 250,000 units year-ov

3h ago Khaosod

Norway's national team jerseys have sold out at numerous retailers across Europe ahead of the FIFA World Cup 2026 semi-final against England on July 11, according to BBC News. The Norwegian Football Association revealed that jerseys sold out consistently across both Nike stores and other sporting goods retailers, acknowledging they significantly underestimated fan demand.

Commerce director Runar Pahr Andersen stated that retail orders for jerseys this year reached approximately 250,000 units, a dramatic jump from roughly 50,000 units during the same period last year. Norwegian media reports indicate some fans camped overnight outside stores to secure first-in-line purchases, while others brought chairs and waited 12 hours. Some retailers reported queues stretching 600 meters long.

Andersen said the Norwegian Football Association has never earned such high profits from national team jerseys before, though production constraints based on pre-established schedules prevented manufacturing additional stock. Nike acknowledged fan frustration with stock shortages and stated the company is accelerating distribution improvements to better address demand.

Christian Pulisic, the U.S. national team's star midfielder, suffered a fractured right tibia and fibula with bruising during the 2026 World Cup Round of 16 match against Belgium, which the Americans lost 1-4. The U.S. Soccer Federation announced the diagnosis following the game. The federation will collaborate with AC Milan, Pulisic's club team, on his recovery process for the 27-year-old athlete. However, it remains uncertain whether he will be healthy enough to play in Milan's league season opener on August 23. Although the U.S. team has not disclosed a specific recovery timeline, reports indicate Pulisic will likely need several weeks of treatment, though not extending to months. Pulisic has faced considerable criticism for his overall form during this World Cup campaign. The controversy is further complicated by his earlier withdrawal from the 2025 CONCACAF Gold Cup, which he cited as preparation for the World Cup.

US Official: Starmer's World Cup Meddling Worse Than Trump's

A US White House official claims UK PM Keir Starmer's interference in the 2026 World Cup scheduling is worse than Trump's effort to overturn a red card decision, citing safety concerns versus competitive advantage.

US Official: Starmer's World Cup Meddling Worse Than Trump's
5h ago Khaosod

Andrew Giuliani, director of the White House's World Cup task force, has commented that UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer's interference in the 2026 FIFA World Cup represents a more serious case than US President Donald Trump's actions.

Trump faced heavy criticism during this World Cup after he admitted to contacting FIFA President Gianni Infantino to request a review of the red card issued to American striker Folarin Balogun. Balogun originally received a red card in the Round of 32 match, where the US defeated Bosnia 2-0. After Trump's contact with Infantino, FIFA changed the suspension from a ban to a one-year suspension, allowing Balogun to play in the subsequent Round of 16 match, in which the US lost to Belgium 4-1.

Meanwhile, Starmer reportedly used diplomatic channels to prevent FIFA from rescheduling England's Round of 16 match against co-host Mexico, which had been proposed to start six hours earlier due to weather concerns. Reports indicate that Starmer feared the rescheduling could disadvantage England and negatively impact fans who had planned to travel to the stadium. The match ultimately kicked off one hour later than originally scheduled due to actual weather complications.

Juliani compared the two cases, stating: "I see Starmer's interference as a much more serious situation. One interference involved life and safety, while the other was merely about competitive play on the field. I think you can clearly see the difference."

Drunk Brawl Ends With Stab Wound At Construction Store

Drunk Brawl Ends With Stab Wound At Construction Store
6h ago Khaosod

A 39-year-old drunk man was seriously injured in a stabbing incident when he tried to defend his wife from an old rival during an altercation outside a worker dormitory at a construction materials shop in Bang Phlap district, Samut Prakan province. The incident occurred at 8:48 PM on July 9, 2025. Rescue workers from Bang Phlai received a report of an assault involving a knife weapon with significant blood loss. Upon arrival, they found Siam, 39, with a critical stab wound to his left abdomen from a pointed blade and a head injury from blunt force trauma. Paramedics provided first aid and transported him to the hospital. Siam's wife, Saowlakshana, who was also intoxicated, explained that the stabbing stemmed from an earlier incident. She and her husband were drinking beer in front of the worker dormitory when Ruj, their old adversary, approached and confronted them. When Ruj allegedly threatened to hit her with a beer bottle, her husband grabbed a knife to intervene, leading to a struggle during which Siam was stabbed. Coworkers confirmed that Ruj was the aggressor and that the knife belonged to Siam, who had intended to stab Ruj but the blade was wrestled from his control. The two men had a long history of disputes, particularly when drinking. After the incident, Ruj, also known as Thanathorn, 36, the primary aggressor, did not flee. He surrendered to police with blood stains on his body, claiming he acted in self-defense when Siam attacked him with the knife. He stated he hit Siam's head with a beer bottle before wresting away the knife, and the stabbing occurred during the resulting scuffle. Police questioned Ruj and collected evidence, including a kitchen knife over one foot long, before transferring him to investigators for legal proceedings.
