Argentina's defending champions advanced to the World Cup semifinal for the third consecutive time after defeating 10-man Switzerland 3-1 in extra time on July 12. The team will face England in the semifinal on July 15 (July 16 at 3:00 AM Thailand time). Coach Lionel Scaloni acknowledged multiple areas needing improvement, saying "We must accept reality—there are many things we need to improve. But winning always makes everything better, even though we could have played better. Reaching another semifinal is historic." The 48-year-old coach downplayed the significance of facing England versus other opponents, stating "Whether it's England or Norway, we'll face a team that plays excellent football with a strong coach. Right now, physical recovery is the most important thing." Switzerland coach Murat Yakin praised his team's commitment despite playing with only 10 men, saying "This team showed tremendous determination. Even with just 10 players, we gave our all. I'm very proud of everyone."

On July 12, 2569, the Army Region 2's Narcotics Suppression and Interception Command Unit 24, working with the Nakhon Phanom Drug Suppression Command, successfully dismantled a major drug trafficking network following up on a March 23 arrest. They arrested one suspect and seized 5 million methamphetamine pills, two vehicles, and two mobile phones from a residence in Muang Nakhon Phanom District.

The operation stemmed from an earlier March 23 bust when authorities arrested one individual with 502 kilograms of crystal methamphetamine in the same district. Investigators tracked the network's financial transactions and vehicles for weeks. On July 8, officers spotted suspicious activity in Nakhon Phanom Province and intensified surveillance.

On July 10 at approximately 3:00 p.m., officers raided the residence and arrested 53-year-old Saon, a Nakhon Sawan native. The seizure included approximately 5 million methamphetamine pills still being counted, two Mitsubishi pickup trucks, and two mobile phones. The suspect faces drug trafficking charges and is in custody pending further investigation.

Authorities confirmed the investigation is ongoing as they pursue other network members, commanders, and associates involved in the trafficking operation for legal prosecution.

Zlatan Slams Maddison's Performance in World Cup Qualifier

Zlatan Ibrahimović criticized Noni Maddison's performance in England's 2-1 World Cup qualifier win over Norway, saying the winger's constant mistakes made England play like they had one fewer player on the field.

Zlatan Ibrahimović, the former Swedish national team striker, has criticized English winger Noni Maddison's performance, saying he makes constant mistakes that make it seem like England is playing with one fewer player on the field. Maddison started in England's 2026 World Cup semi-final qualifier against Norway, which England won 2-1 in extra time to advance to face Argentina on July 15 local time. However, he was substituted out immediately after the first half ended. Ibrahimović commented during halftime that the change somewhat disrupted England's flow, since Jude Bellingham is England's most alert player. "But I think they're playing with one fewer player because of Maddison being on the pitch," Ibrahimović said. "Every time he gets the ball, he makes a poor decision and just wanders around." He added: "If I were Tuchel, I would have taken him off because he did nothing in those 45 minutes. Even the halftime break didn't help him. He played, but wasn't truly effective every game. England started down one player."

Bhutan Offers Monthly Cash to Boost Third Child Births

Bhutan is offering monthly cash payments of $105 per child to couples who have a third or subsequent child, as the Himalayan nation battles a 25 percent birthrate decline over the past decade and rapid youth emigration.

Bhutan's government is launching an incentive program to encourage couples to have more children as the Himalayan kingdom faces a rapidly declining birthrate and increasing emigration of young people seeking opportunities abroad. According to a Straits Times report from July 12, the annual birthrate has dropped by more than 25 percent over the past decade.

Prime Minister Dasho Cheering Tobgay has repeatedly warned about the population crisis, calling it an existential threat, and introduced the "Third Child Plus" program in June.

The scheme provides monthly financial assistance of $105 (approximately 3,495 baht) for a third child or subsequent children until age three.

With fewer than 800,000 residents and a 27 percent population decline since 2020, Bhutan's fertility rate has fallen to approximately 1.8 children per woman—below replacement level—while the proportion of elderly residents aged 65 and above is projected to increase from roughly 6 percent to 17 percent by 2049, according to United Nations projections.

After archaeologists discovered ancient human skeletal remains and intact black Phimai pottery in Kroburee District, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, officials from the Fine Arts Department's Nakhon Ratchasima office recovered additional artifacts including glass beads, iron tools, and stone axes predating the late Iron Age from the Mun Dam area in Jrakai Stone Subdistrict. Some pieces have been transferred to Maha Veeravongse National Museum for safekeeping.

Most recently, Pairojn Summat, headman of Nong Suea Bong Village, displayed over 50 polished stone axes and other artifacts he collected for more than a decade. The collection also includes iron implements, fused metal, orange glass beads, and ceramic vessels. Summat explained that while working as a hired bulldozer operator for land preparation over the years, he regularly encountered ancient artifacts buried underground and began preserving them out of personal interest.

Around 2010, while leveling farmland, he discovered iron tools, skeletal remains, and ancient pottery near an area called Non Kao at the village edge. Local authorities contacted the Fine Arts Department, which confirmed several pieces were black Phimai pottery and collected samples for study. Summat continued collecting similar items—particularly the stone axes found frequently—hoping that one day experts could authenticate them and help establish a district museum. He aims to preserve these artifacts so future generations can study this region's ancient past.

Singer Puay has ended her contract with My Music Record after struggling under mounting pressure from the public and industry backlash. The turmoil began when a viral video with 77 million views—featuring Puay in an incident involving a married couple—spread rapidly across social media, with viewers dubbing the content "pink floral mattress" and "Doraemon pillow" footage. Puay was forced to resign from her factory job in Rayong after the video caused her embarrassment, and she filed a Computer Crime Act complaint against the woman who recorded it.

Record label executive "Mor Mind" subsequently posted a video recruiting Puay to join My Music Record, prompting fierce criticism from musicians and songwriters who questioned the appropriateness of the move. The label stated they wanted to provide Puay a second chance at life and career, believing everyone deserves an opportunity to prove themselves. However, following the announcement, the public backlash became too much for Puay to bear.

In a statement, My Music Record confirmed that Puay requested to terminate her artist contract due to feeling overwhelmed and distressed by the situation. The label has agreed to end the contract amicably, with no hard feelings or disputes between the two parties. My Music Record wished Puay success in her future endeavors and thanked all supporters, media, and the public for their feedback and encouragement.

Actress Shares Honest Mouth Taping Weight Loss Results
7h ago Khaosod

Actress Ton Hom Sakunthala Tienpairoj has released an honest review of her five-month mouth taping weight loss experience, sharing candid details about the challenges she faced. She explained that she stopped the mouth taping at the third month after five months of treatment, and decided to share her experience as educational information.

During the third month, Ton Hom experienced frequent hunger, intense cravings for sweets, and struggled with appetite control—eating without feeling full. She noted that her metabolism seemed to shut down, which frustrated her, though she continued eating despite these issues. After five months, she lost five kilograms, but has since gained back two kilograms, which she considers normal.

Ton Hom emphasized that the mouth taping was not solely responsible for the weight loss. "It wasn't just the mouth tape," she explained. "I was weight training consistently throughout those five months. It's about building your own metabolism. The mouth tape just helped me stop eating, but you have to help yourself with the entire routine."

She revealed that a doctor recommended five lifestyle adjustments: controlling food intake, exercising, sleeping properly, avoiding alcohol, and managing stress. Ton Hom managed to follow almost all of them except diet control, particularly during her menstrual cycle when cravings were uncontrollable. She emphasized that the mouth tape served as a supplement, not a standalone solution.

In the first two weeks alone, she lost four kilograms—a dramatic change she'd never experienced before. Upon detailed body composition analysis, she discovered that two of those kilograms were muscle loss, meaning only two kilograms were fat loss. This motivated her to maintain consistent weight training, never skipping a single week during the entire five-month period.

Ton Hom stressed the importance of medical supervision, noting that stopping the treatment wasn't a personal choice but a doctor's decision. She also warned that a two-kilogram rebound after stopping is normal and expected.

Opposition Leader Alleges Senate Election Fraud, Demands Investigation

Opposition MPs are demanding a judicial investigation into alleged 2560 Senate election fraud, claiming evidence shows deliberate vote-buying and money-laundering rather than mere manipulation to seize state power.

Opposition Leader Alleges Senate Election Fraud, Demands Investigation
7h ago Khaosod

On July 12, 2569 at Parliament, Priset Vachrasindhu, a Thai Raksa Chat Party MP and chairman of the opposition coalition coordination committee, spoke before launching a two-year commemoration event on Senate election fraud evidence. He argued that "Senate fraud" is a more accurate term than "Senate manipulation" because the evidence shows not merely coordinated candidate placement and vote-trading networks, but deliberate use of money and benefits to hire candidates and voters, aiming to seize state power.

Priset emphasized the case's critical importance for Thailand's political future, warning that those who gain power through improper means tend to abuse that power similarly. If certain senators entered office improperly, it raises questions about whether their legislative actions—including law review, constitutional amendment votes, and independent agency appointments—also constitute abuse of power.

He noted the 2560 Constitution created conditions enabling Senate fraud as a pathway to establishing a manipulated political system. When political groups use illegal methods to interfere with Senate elections, placing controllable members in office gives those groups the ability to dictate independent agency appointments and weaken oversight mechanisms.

Priset stated that multiple sectors have compiled evidence for the Election Commission (EC) and the Special Cases Inquiry Department (DSI). The EC must decide by September whether to refer the case to court following an investigative panel's finding of 229 suspects. The DSI has accepted it as a special case based on vote-buying and money-laundering charges.

He expressed concern that the case may not reach court. Four of seven EC commissioners are Senate-appointed, mostly from the government side. The EC's 36th subcommittee recently ruled that none of the 229 suspects had committed offenses—contrary to public sentiment. The DSI similarly concerns him: after prolonged investigation, it charged only eight people by late 2568, before prosecutors returned the case in early 2569.

In the 2026 World Cup quarterfinal on July 12, 2025, at Kansas City Stadium in the United States, Argentina played Switzerland. Argentina had a strong start, scoring first with a 1-0 lead from a corner kick in the 10th minute when Lionel Messi assisted Alexis Mac Allister's goal. After taking the lead, Argentina adopted a defensive approach focused on solidity, while Switzerland controlled the ball more effectively. In the 67th minute of the second half, Dan Ndoyi broke through and scored to equalize for Switzerland at 1-1. Switzerland's situation deteriorated when Breel Embolo, already carrying a yellow card, attempted to dive for a foul. After VAR review, the referee issued Embolo a second yellow card, resulting in a red card and his dismissal from the field. Despite Argentina's near-total possession and attacking pressure in the remaining time, they failed to capitalize on their numerical advantage, and the match finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, requiring extra time. In the extra period, Argentina, with more players, pressed heavily, and in the 112th minute, Julián Álvarez fired a stunning long-range shot to give Argentina a 2-1 lead.
