Senate Schedules Clean Air Bill for Next Week
Thailand's Senate will debate a Clean Air Management Act next week with an accelerated schedule of 2-3 sessions weekly, targeting passage of legislation designed to reduce PM2.5 emissions and establish air quality monitoring systems.
The Senate will consider the draft Clean Air Management Act next week, with lawmakers emphasizing the need to move quickly. Senate spokesperson Pisit Aphiwattanapong announced on July 1, 2026, that the chamber plans to hold 2-3 sessions per week to accelerate passage of the bill.
The legislation focuses on addressing air pollution through integrated management and prevention at the source, with particular emphasis on reducing PM2.5 emissions. It will establish systems for air quality assessment, monitoring, early warning alerts, and crisis management during air pollution emergencies.
Aphiwattanapong noted that the bill contains numerous provisions and is expected to require two to three readings in the Senate, potentially extending to three days of debate. The Senate is prioritizing the Clean Air Management Act to ensure it passes during this current legislative session.
