Superbon Updates Injury Status, Sends Sharp Message to Liu: 'You've Only Fought a Few Times, Don't Get Cocky'
ONE Championship featherweight kickboxing champion Superbon has withdrawn from his May 22 fight against Liu Mengyang due to elbow surgery for a bone spur, requiring 2-3 months recovery with a return expected by October.
Following his withdrawal from the fight against Chinese boxer Liu Mengyang scheduled for The Inner Circle event on Friday, May 22, ONE Championship featherweight kickboxing champion Superbon has updated the public on his injury status. The fighter revealed he was recently discharged from the hospital and needs 2-3 weeks of rest before beginning light training again, with a total recovery period of approximately 2-3 months. He anticipates being ready for ONE Samurai 2 in October.
According to his medical team, Superbon's injury resulted from repetitive strain. A small bone spur developed on his elbow, preventing him from bending his arm and throwing punches effectively. Surgery was necessary to remove it—a condition that had been developing for some time but only became severely painful during recent fight preparations. Doctors advised that forcing himself to fight could cause further damage, making the surgery the only viable option.
Superbon had a message for Liu Mengyang: 'No escape. Wait a moment. We'll definitely meet again. You've only fought a few times, don't get ahead of yourself.' This came after Liu had posted clips taunting Superbon for withdrawing from the title fight.
