Thai Police Host Global IP Crime Conference with INTERPOL
Thailand hosted the 19th International IP Crime Conference with INTERPOL, uniting global law enforcement to combat cross-border counterfeit networks endangering public safety.
The Royal Thai Police Office, in collaboration with INTERPOL and UL Standards & Engagement (ULSE), organized the 19th International Law Enforcement IP Crime Conference from October 27-29, 2026, under the theme "Bridging Borders: From Regional Action to Global Impact." The event was attended by INTERPOL Secretary General Valdecy Urquiza, INTERPOL Executive Director of Capacity Building and Innovation Ying Wu, and ULSE President and CEO Jeff Marootian. The Thai delegation was led by Pol. Maj. Gen. Jaturapat Phironkhao, Commander of the Bangkok International Police Coordination Center, and Pol. Maj. Gen. Thatsaphum Charuphrachaya, Commander of the Economic Crime Suppression Division.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Thatchai emphasized that intellectual property crime has global significance, affecting businesses and economies — from counterfeit medicines and substandard electrical equipment to knockoff products that pose safety risks. Criminal networks now exploit international trade routes, e-commerce platforms, logistics systems, and digital technology to smuggle counterfeit goods across borders, with these crimes often spanning multiple countries. Thailand is committed to strengthening cooperation with the Customs Department, the Office of the Attorney General, and relevant regulatory agencies, all of which play crucial roles in inspecting counterfeit goods. Pol. Lt. Gen. Thatchai expressed confidence that the discussions and exchanges initiated at the conference will serve as a vital starting point for expanding cooperation beyond the region and achieving tangible global results.
