Double Asian Games gold medalist Puripol Boonson revealed he is currently looking for an agency to help plan his Diamond League campaign, while expressing pride at receiving an honorary jacket from the Thai Olympic Committee.
Thai Olympic Committee president Pimol Srivikorn chaired an executive board meeting at the committee's headquarters (Ban Ampornwan) on October 29. Before the meeting, the committee, led by Pimol, presented the honorary jacket to "Biw" Puripol Boonson, the Thai national team sprinter who won two gold medals at the 20th Asian Games in Japan and was named the Games' most valuable athlete, in recognition of his achievements and dedication.
Puripol said his Asian Games performance and becoming the first Thai and ASEAN athlete to win the MVP award was a tremendous source of pride and a huge honor. He added the jacket was beautiful and he was equally proud to receive this distinction.
Regarding his competition schedule, Puripol said his coach has given him a rest period after heavy training and major competitions. He will resume training and racing early next year. He will compete in the Thai National Athletics Championships for the Royal Thai Police team in the men's 100 meters only on October 31, as he needs to recover fully after a demanding season.
"Returning to compete in Thailand after racing at continental and world levels is because I want to inspire youth and up-and-coming runners. This year there are many competitors," Puripol said.
On plans to compete in the professional Diamond League circuit, Puripol said he is currently planning because entering those meetings requires an agency to handle travel and logistics, and they must plan and discuss everything thoroughly.
