Thailand Issues 13th Heavy Rain Warning Through Tomorrow
Thailand's meteorological agency issued its 13th heavy rain warning through tomorrow, with very heavy downpours expected across the northeast, east, and southern regions as a strong southwest monsoon moves across the country.
On July 29, the Thai Meteorological Department forecast significant rainfall across most of Thailand over the next 24 hours. The northeast, east, and south will experience very heavy rain in some areas, while the north, central region, Bangkok and surrounding areas will see heavy showers in places. A monsoon trough is moving through the upper north and northeast, while the southwest monsoon remains fairly strong across the Andaman Sea, Thailand, and the Gulf of Thailand.
North: Thunderstorms in 70% of the area with heavy rain in some locations around Mae Hong Son, Chiang Mai, Chiang Rai, Lampang, Phayao, Nan, Phrae, Uttaradit, Tak, Kamphaeng Phet, Phitsanulok, Phichit, and Phetchabun. Low 22-26°C, high 32-34°C. Southwest wind 10-20 km/h.
Northeast: Thunderstorms in 80% of the area with heavy rain around Loei, Nong Bua Lam Phu, Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, Sakon Nakhon, Nakhon Phanom, Mukdahan, Chaiyaphum, Nakhon Ratchasima, Buriram, Surin, and Sisaket. Very heavy rain in some areas around Nong Khai, Bueng Kan, Kalasin, Maha Sarakham, Roi Et, Yasothon, Amnat Charoen, and Ubon Ratchathani. Low 23-24°C, high 31-34°C. Southwest wind 10-20 km/h.
Central: Thunderstorms in 70% of the area with heavy rain in some locations around Nakhon Sawan, Uthai Thani, Lopburi, Saraburi, Ayutthaya, and Kanchanaburi. Low 23-26°C, high 33-35°C. Southwest wind 10-25 km/h.
East: Thunderstorms in 70% of the area with heavy rain around Nakhon Nayok, Prachuap Khiri Khan, and Chachoengsao. Very heavy rain in some areas around Sa Kaew, Chachoengsao, Rayong, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Low 23-28°C, high 30-33°C. Southwest wind 20-35 km/h. Sea waves approximately 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
South (East Coast): Thunderstorms in 60% of the area with heavy rain in some locations around Prachuap Khiri Khan, Chumphon, Surat Thani, Nakhon Si Thammarat, and Phatthalung. Low 22-26°C, high 32-35°C. Southwest wind 15-35 km/h. Sea waves approximately 1 meter, 1-2 meters offshore, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
South (West Coast): Thunderstorms in 70% of the area with heavy rain around Krabi and Trang. Very heavy rain in some areas around Ranong, Phang Nga, and Phuket. Low 23-24°C, high 30-34°C. From Phang Nga northward: southwest wind 20-40 km/h, sea waves 2-3 meters, exceeding 3 meters in thunderstorm areas. From Phuket southward: southwest wind 20-35 km/h, sea waves approximately 2 meters, exceeding 2 meters in thunderstorm areas.
Bangkok and surrounding areas: Thunderstorms in 70% of the area with heavy rain in some locations. Low 26-27°C, high 33-34°C. Southwest wind 10-25 km/h.
