A funeral ceremony for Pol. Lt. Gen. Phon Pladbut, aged 103, was held on August 6 at Wat Thepsirin in Bangkok. Former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra attended alongside his daughter Pintongta Shinawatra and her husband Nattaphong Kunakorwong, along with Pheu Thai party lawmakers and other prominent figures paying their respects. Pol. Lt. Gen. Phon was the father of Phakatpailin Thevasyn, wife of former Prime Minister Srettha Thevasyn, Thailand's 30th prime minister. The family conducted a water-sprinkling ceremony on August 2, followed by chanting sessions on August 2-4 and 6-7 at 6:30 p.m., with no chanting on August 5 and 8. The cremation ceremony is scheduled for August 9 at Wat Thepsirin, beginning at 10:00 a.m. with monks chanting, followed by almsgiving at 11:00 a.m., and the final cremation ritual at 5:00 p.m.
