Thailand Gears Up for Myanmar Showdown in AFF Championship
Thailand's national team trained August 6 to prepare for their crucial final Group B match against Myanmar on August 8, with players targeting victory to advance in the 2026 AFF Championship.
Thailand's national football team trained on August 6, 2026, at BGTC 3 stadium in Pathum Thani to prepare for their final Group B match of the 2026 AFF Championship against Myanmar.
The session focused on recovery and maintaining fitness for players who did not play in the recent victory over the Philippines (1-0) before returning home yesterday.
Before training, right-back Varos Chutong said: "The Philippines match was difficult and tight, but we're happy we got the win and brought home three points. The senior players have given us guidance and support throughout. The difference from playing U23 is we have senior players supporting us, but in U23 we help each other with friends and younger players. Our goal against Myanmar is to secure three points and advance to the next round."
"From watching their last three matches, Myanmar is strong too, so we can't be careless. If we get the chance to score, we'll try to finish it. We ask Thai fans to come and cheer for us in big numbers."
Defender Nattapong Sairiya said: "After this, the coach wants everyone to recover their bodies as quickly as possible because the last three matches were tough and the travel was exhausting. Keeping three clean sheets across all three matches was because everyone worked hard together in training."
"I think everyone in the team can cover for each other and everyone has quality. We can play well together. Our match against Myanmar is at home, so we want to invite all fans to come cheer at the stadium. We will try our best. They are a strong team, and we will do our best and not be careless."
Thailand faces Myanmar in the final Group B match of the 2026 AFF Championship on August 8, 2026, at 20:00 at Rajamangala Stadium.
