Three teenagers on a motorcycle stole ten boxes of rice worth 200 baht from a shop in Hadyai, laughing as the 67-year-old owner chased them on foot near Wat Hoo Raem School.
July 19, 2026 – Police received a report that three teenagers on a motorcycle committed a food theft at a corner shop near the intersection to Wat Hoo Raem School, Moo 3, Tung Tamsao Subdistrict, Hadyai District, Songkhla Province, early in the morning. Security camera footage from the shop captured the entire incident, showing three teenagers arriving on a black-and-red Honda Wave motorcycle. Store owner Sawat Prathumwan, 67, was alone preparing his shop when the group rode past, then circled back. One teenager jumped off the bike and seized the opportunity while the owner was distracted, grabbing ten boxes of rice—including khao mok, khao man, and khao neow pla kem—worth over 200 baht that were ready for sale. The thief ran back to the motorcycle and sped away. Sawat tried to chase them but could not catch up, and the group of teenagers jeered mockingly at him as they escaped. Sawat has since filed a complaint with Tung Tamsao Police Station. The shop is located only 200 meters from the community police post, yet these teenagers showed no fear whatsoever.
