Nearly 1,000 farmers from nine northeastern provinces gathered in Yasothon to meet Deputy PM Yuthasak Wongsodsadi on a poverty relief fieldwork tour, where he pledged to address their concerns through a comprehensive anti-poverty program.
Nearly 1,000 small farmers from nine northeastern provinces, including Udon Thani, Surin, Sisaket, Chaiyaphum, and Ubon Ratchathani, gathered at a cattle farm in Kudchum District, Yasothon Province on July 19, 2026 to welcome Deputy Prime Minister Yuthasak Wongsodsadi and his team during their poverty relief fieldwork.
Residents enthusiastically embraced the deputy prime minister upon his arrival, tying white amulets around his waist and shaking his hand in gratitude for his efforts to address their struggles. Some even offered blessings for him to become prime minister next term, leaving him visibly touched. He later sat among the villagers for informal discussion.
Yuthasak explained that he had asked villagers to wait at Government House twice previously, but the Bangkok team had already held joint meetings to find solutions. "I came today specifically to listen to your concerns on the ground," he said, thanking those who traveled far to show support.
Since taking office, Yuthasak has been implementing a comprehensive anti-poverty program spanning five areas, utilizing science, research, and innovation. He has already visited Udon Thani, Kalasin, Nakhon Ratchasima, Nakhon Phanom, and Roi Et provinces. Social welfare systems will be a key mechanism to accelerate assistance delivery to all in need.
"From our assembly meetings, we will establish subcommittees to ensure all sectors participate in solving people's problems," Yuthasak said. "I came with my full team to care for you."
The visit follows earlier requests by small farmer assemblies for government help with impacts from large state projects affecting housing, livelihoods, and overlapping national park and protected forest areas. A committee has been appointed to expedite resolution of these issues.
