TMD Warns Heavy Rain, Strong Winds Across Thailand Nov 5-9
The Thai Meteorological Department warns of heavy rain and strong winds nationwide from Nov 5–9, with upper Thailand facing thunderstorms Nov 5–7 and the South bracing for very heavy rain and flood risks Nov 7–9.
On November 2, 2026, the Thai Meteorological Department (TMD) issued Announcement No. 2 (285/2569) regarding changing weather in upper Thailand and heavy to very heavy rain in the South, effective November 5-9, 2026.
From November 5-7, upper Thailand will experience changing weather with thunderstorms, strong gusty winds, and isolated heavy rain, affecting the Northeast first, followed by the North, Central (including Bangkok and vicinity), and East regions. The public is warned of dangers from thunderstorms and strong winds, and advised to avoid open areas, large trees, and unstable billboards.
From November 7-9, the South will see increasing rain with heavy falls in many areas and very heavy rain in some places. People should beware of accumulated rainfall that could trigger flash floods and forest runoff, especially in foothills near waterways and low-lying areas.
This is caused by a high-pressure system or another cold air mass from China spreading over upper Thailand and the South China Sea, strengthening the easterly winds over Thailand and the Gulf of Thailand.
In the Andaman Sea and Gulf of Thailand, waves during thunderstorms will exceed 2 meters. Mariners in the Gulf and Andaman should navigate with caution and avoid thunderstorm areas.
For safety and to reduce impacts, the public is urged to plan daily activities and travel carefully during this period. Stay updated via TMD announcements continuously at www.tmd.go.th or call 0-2399-4012-13 and 1182 (24 hours).
