Tray Scott Appears in Court as Mother Withdraws Ingratitude Lawsuit
Sirinath Tray Scott appeared in court as his mother withdrew an ingratitude lawsuit against him, though he says his life remains shattered without clarity on property or the criminal case against family member Pai.
At 9:00 a.m. on July 8, 2026, Sirinath Tray Scott (also known as Tray Samuthorn) arrived at Phra Khanong Civil Court with his private attorney, Benjama Aphaiwong, to monitor the court's review of his mother's petition to withdraw the ingratitude lawsuit. After the hearing at 11:00 a.m., Tray gave an interview declining to comment about his mother, instead expressing gratitude to society and all good citizens who have supported him, saying he now has parents, siblings, and supporters throughout the country. He emphasized that today's outcome resulted from collective love and social change, not from a change of heart. When asked about future property division discussions, Tray said he does not dare claim victory, viewing the situation as something that should never have happened in the first place. He stressed he is not an ungrateful person but rather grateful to others, his country, and his environmental work. He noted that although his mother withdrew the lawsuit, his life remains shattered—he has no home and no security—and questioned whether this constitutes justice. Tray stated there have been no clear discussions yet regarding asset recovery, and he only learned of the withdrawal through the media. Regarding inheritance matters, he has received no clarity from his mother but views inheritance as merely one aspect of injustice, with the main issue being the criminal case against Pai. He called on family members who claim to love him to testify on his behalf. Regarding his own criminal complaint against Pai, Tray said preparations are underway and he is considering which method to file. He expressed hope for a family council meeting soon, as he has been fighting this battle for two full months. When asked about the merits of a family council, he said he would share details after meeting but wants to separate himself and live his own life. Tray became emotional and thanked society for giving him more than any child could ask for—the experience of family, smiles, aunts, siblings, and encouragement everywhere he goes. He expressed hope that his future will be better. His attorney, Benjama Aphaiwong, noted that their petition includes four witnesses addressing multiple issues including statute of limitations, land deeds, and testimony.
