On August 4, 2025, Lieutenant Colonel Kraphop Netthaisongh, superintendent of Ban Fang Police Station in Khon Kaen, took custody of the two suspects and led them to the scene to confirm their statements. The men face charges of jointly committing indecent assault against a person over 15 years old and unlawful detention, stemming from an incident on the night of August 2 when they allegedly grabbed a 39-year-old woman and attempted to drag her into a restroom at Bueng Suang public park in Ban Fang subdistrict.

According to the suspects, they had consumed approximately three bottles of alcohol starting around 7 p.m. in Sawaththi district before riding their motorcycle to Ban Fang. Around 10 p.m., they encountered the victim sitting alone by the pond and attempted to strike up a conversation. After she refused and moved away, they followed her. The suspects then made lewd remarks and propositioned her for sexual services, which she rejected, stating she was too old and asking them not to speak that way.

Lieutenant Colonel Kraphop reported that as the victim tried to walk away, the two men grabbed and yanked her arm, then dragged her toward the restroom behind the guard booth with intent to commit sexual assault. The victim fought back, and when Fluke bit her by the hand and released her, Pipe continued attempting to drag her toward the restroom. The victim sustained bruises and abrasions while resisting. As she clung to a wooden post near the restroom entrance, a patrol vehicle that regularly patrols the area happened to pass by. The victim screamed for help, officers rushed to investigate, and the two suspects fled over the pond fence and hid in the nearby residential area. Despite efforts to search using flashlights, officers were unable to immediately locate them in the dark residential zone.

SONGKHLA — The Faculty of Medicine at Prince of Songkla University (PSU) has unveiled progress in using locally developed CAR-T Cell therapy to treat blood cancers and autoimmune diseases, reporting that nearly 90% of patients have achieved complete remission.

Asst. Prof. Dr. Nalinee Kowitwanawong, deputy dean for administration at the Faculty of Medicine, said that PSU had introduced CAR-T Cell therapy to treat patients with lymphoma, leukaemia and systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE). The treatment uses a patient's own immune cells, which are genetically modified to recognise and attack targeted cells.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Chakkarawadee Chulamanee, director of the Centre of Excellence for Stem Cell Transplantation and Cell Therapy, said the university had researched and developed PSU CAR-T Cell therapy to treat cancer patients while significantly reducing treatment costs. Imported CAR-T Cell products can cost nearly 20 million baht, while the locally developed treatment can reduce the cost to around 2 million baht.

To expand access to the treatment, PSU's Faculty of Medicine is building a facility to manufacture PSU CD19 CAR-T Cells. The facility is expected to increase production capacity from around 30 patients per year to more than 100 patients annually. The university is also seeking partnerships with private companies and international networks to expand access to the treatment and further develop the technology for international use.

The Faculty of Medicine has signed an agreement with Bangkok Hospital Phuket to develop CAR-T Cell therapy. The partnership combines academic expertise, research capabilities and medical services to establish a systematic, safe and standardised foundation for advanced medical treatment, including precision medicine and advanced therapy medicinal products (ATMPs), alongside a comprehensive patient care system.

The system will cover the entire treatment process, from patient selection and suitability assessments to treatment planning, safety management, monitoring for complications and long-term follow-up by a multidisciplinary medical team. The partnership is also intended to improve access to advanced treatments for patients in Thailand's Andaman coastal region, the wider southern region and international patients.

The initiative is part of efforts to position the region as an international hub for advanced medicine based on medical standards, patient safety, research and meaningful outcomes for patients.

Thailand's Energy Conservation Promotion Fund Office has released comprehensive statistics showing that over 30 years, from 1995 to 2025, it allocated approximately 142.3 billion baht to 14,870 energy conservation projects, resulting in total energy savings of about 21,287 kilotons of oil equivalent (ktoe), valued at approximately 516.7 billion baht—more than three times the amount invested. Fund Manager Ratchathat Siripanit announced that the majority of funding went to factories, buildings, government agencies, hospitals, educational institutions, SMEs, and farming groups in line with government policy.

Historically, the fund operated under the Ministry of Finance until 1995, then transferred to the Ministry of Energy in 1998, and finally became an independent fund in 2019. It now continuously supports energy conservation and renewable energy projects nationwide through research support, technology development, innovation, and workforce capacity building. After a funding pause from 2022 to 2023, allocations resumed in 2024 with 1.25 billion baht, generating annual energy savings of 171.26 ktoe valued at approximately 7.95 billion baht. Most 2024 support went toward solar rooftop and farm installations at 141 government offices, 817 remote communities without electricity, 71 schools and hospitals, and 10 farming and community enterprise groups, totaling 1,134 systems at 19.87 megawatts, offsetting 111.4 million baht in annual electricity costs.

The fund also supports energy efficiency improvements at over 600 regulated buildings and factories, spurring over 760 million baht annually in private sector investment from more than 80 industrial and commercial operators, resulting in combined energy savings worth 7.84 billion baht. For 2025, funding allocation is under review, targeting reduced living costs through renewable energy installation at over 1,200 village water systems nationwide, 1,000 agricultural and public water well systems, 74 off-grid solar community systems, 45 state hospitals, and 800 border security outposts. The fund also aims to support energy efficiency investments from over 200 businesses and renewable energy projects from 200 farming and community enterprise groups.
