Police received a murder report at 9:15 a.m. on August 1, 2569, from a residence in Chalong Subdistrict, Muang District, Phuket. Officers led by Lieutenant Colonel Charuwitthaya Khuncharoen from Chalong Police Station responded to find the body of a 74-year-old woman (name withheld) with severe wounds from sharp objects and large amounts of blood scattered around the house.

Initial investigation revealed that the victim, who was the mother-in-law, was inside the home with a 36-year-old daughter-in-law (name withheld) when the two had a serious argument. The suspect became angry and violently attacked the victim, causing her to fall, then repeatedly stabbed her with a knife across her body and face. In a particularly brutal act, the suspect used a knife to decapitate the victim.

A neighbor witnessed the incident and alerted police. When officers arrived at the scene, they found the suspect hiding in the bathroom and immediately took her into custody. Investigators, forensic staff, and the duty medical examiner began examining the body and collecting evidence at the scene, while authorities launched a detailed investigation into the motive and circumstances of the killing for legal proceedings.

According to Department Director Oramont Saupthaweethum, Thailand's franchise business is worth over 300,000 billion baht and is a popular expansion model for entrepreneurs seeking to grow their brands quickly. However, franchising involves more than just licensing a business name or opening branches—it requires proper protection of trademarks, production formulas, management systems, and business knowledge that form the core value and competitive advantage of the business. Without proper protection and management, businesses risk counterfeit operations, unauthorized use of rights, and future disputes.

Proper intellectual property management strengthens brand value, builds confidence among franchisees and investors, and ensures standardized expansion. Before launching a franchise system, businesses should prepare in six key areas: (1) Check for name and trademark similarity using AI Image Search and Trademark Checker tools on the Department's website to reduce the risk of infringing others' marks; (2) Register trademarks for legal protection—the Department now offers fast-track service for businesses that need urgent protection; (3) Register trademark license agreements to clarify the rights and obligations of both parties; (4) Draft franchise agreements that clearly define rights, duties, and conditions; (5) Register patents or utility patents if the business has developed innovations, products, or manufacturing processes; and (6) Establish trade secret protection measures to prevent unauthorized use of business knowledge.

Coach Heng Vithaya Lauhaokul, a 72-year-old Thai football legend, shared his views on the Thai national team's prospects for the World Cup during an interview with YouTube channel GoodDayPodcast. When asked whether an expanded World Cup format with 64 teams and a co-hosting quota could help Thailand qualify, Coach Heng answered firmly: "No. If Thailand were to host, there would be many requirements—stadiums have specific regulations." When asked if Rajamangala or Suphachalasai stadiums would meet standards, he replied: "Neither passes. It's not just about stadiums. There are other details—accommodations, hotels, training grounds. Where would we put everything?"

Regarding youth football competitiveness against countries like Japan and South Korea, the 72-year-old responded: "No. It comes down to learning capacity. Thai children lack this. If we teach them, we need to question them first, but they don't understand and are afraid. Football requires three things: effort, courage, and character. Thai children don't have these."
