About Lanta News
Lanta News aggregates and translates news relevant to Koh Lanta and the wider Andaman region, and publishes live weather, marine, and seismic data for the area. This page explains where our content comes from and how to reach us.
What Lanta News is
We are a news aggregator focused on Koh Lanta and the surrounding Andaman coast of southern Thailand. We collect reporting from established Thai and international outlets, present it in English, and pair it with live environmental data for the region. We do not claim original reporting on the stories we aggregate: every article credits the outlet that reported it.
Where our news comes from
Our stories are drawn from the public feeds of the following publications. Each article on the site credits its original source, so the outlet that did the reporting is always named alongside the story.
- BBC Asia
- Bangkok Post — Business, Most Recent, Thailand, and World
- Coconuts Bangkok
- Khaosod
- TAT Newsroom
- Thailand Meteorological Department — Koh Lanta weather and weather warnings
- Thailand.go.th — Events and Issues
- The Phuket Express
- The Phuket News — News and Life
- The Thaiger — Crime and South
Live data services
Alongside the news, we publish live weather, marine, and seismic data for the Andaman region. Weather and marine conditions come from the Thailand Meteorological Department. Earthquake data comes from the United States Geological Survey (USGS). This data powers our weather and nature pages.
Translation
Several of our sources publish in Thai. Content from Thai-language outlets is machine-translated into English. Machine translation can introduce errors, so where the exact wording matters we recommend checking the original article, which is always linked from the story.
