15-Year-Old Teen Confesses to Bold Gold Shop Robbery in Hat Yai Mall

Police have captured a 15-year-old suspect who robbed a gold shop in Songkhla province, arresting him at the Ubon Ratchathani bus station. Deputy Police Chief Thatchai Pitaneelabut and regional police commander Piyawat Chalermsi investigated and recovered 30 gold chains (10 bracelets and 20 necklaces) hidden in a laundry detergent bag inside a friend's apartment. The youth confessed the crime was influenced by an online game friend from Laos who suggested completing a 'gold theft mission'. After committing the robbery, he abandoned the stolen motorcycle, took a ride-share to Hat Yai airport, and flew to Don Mueang airport before being caught. Police are continuing to investigate the motivation behind the young suspect's actions.
