Gold Theft Escalates: 198 Baht of Gold Stolen, Arrest Warrant Imminent

Police are moving quickly to investigate a daring gold shop robbery that occurred on January 30th at around 11:30 PM in a shopping mall located in the Sukhumvit area, under the jurisdiction of Phra Khlong Police Station. The criminals stole approximately 198 baht of gold and around 170,000 baht in cash, totaling over 15 million baht in stolen assets. On February 1st, senior police officials, including Police Commissioner Siam Boonsom, held a detailed briefing on the case. They reported that investigation teams have narrowed down potential suspects and are collecting evidence to request an arrest warrant, which is expected to be issued within 1-2 days. Surveillance footage revealed that the perpetrators had been scouting the location since January 29th, carefully planning their attack during a time with minimal foot traffic. The motorcycle used in their escape is currently being investigated for potentially using fake license plates. National Police Chief Kittarat Phanphet has ordered heightened preventive measures across all police departments, with particular emphasis on gold shops due to current high gold prices. The police are also preparing to meet with the Gold Traders Association to establish additional prevention strategies. Investigators are conducting thorough interviews with store employees and examining the exact weight and value of the stolen gold.
