Nan Province Flood Aid Begins Reaching 15,200 Households
Thailand begins distributing 9,000-baht flood relief payments to 15,215 households in Nan province on Monday, with recipients urged to verify their bank and PromptPay details beforehand.
The Thai government will begin transferring 9,000-baht flood relief payments to more than 15,000 households in Nan province on Monday, with recipients urged to check their bank and PromptPay details ahead of the payment.
Deputy government spokesperson Phatdarasmi Thongsaluakorn said on Sunday that the first round of payments will cover 15,215 households, totalling 136.94 million baht.
The Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation submitted the list of eligible recipients to the Government Savings Bank on 5 September. The bank is scheduled to transfer the payments between 02:00 and 06:00 on 8 September.
Recipients can check for the payment through their Government Savings Bank account or an account linked to PromptPay using their national ID number. The government urged eligible residents to make sure their PromptPay registration is active and correctly linked.
The payments follow a Cabinet resolution on 25 August approving the criteria and procedures for financial assistance to households affected by flooding during the 2026 rainy season.
Under the scheme, each eligible household can receive a one-time payment of 9,000 baht if its primary residence was flooded for no more than seven days and property was damaged, or if the residence remained flooded for more than seven consecutive days.
The home must also be located in an area officially declared a disaster zone or an area eligible for government assistance.
Flood victims who have not yet applied can register through the Tang Rat government application, which links with civil registration records to verify applicants and allows them to track their application status.
Applications can also be submitted in person to local administrative organisations, where officials can assist residents in entering their information into the system.
Phatdarasmi said the prime minister had instructed relevant agencies to speed up assistance and allow local authorities to submit verified applications in batches rather than waiting for information from an entire village to be completed.
This will allow the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation to forward approved cases to the Government Savings Bank more quickly for payment.
Eligible flood victims in Nan included in the first round are advised to check their bank or PromptPay accounts ahead of the 9,000-baht transfer on 8 September.
