Liverpool Legends Hyypiä and Dowie Arrive for Bangkok Run
Former Liverpool captain Sami Hyypiä and striker Natasha Dowie have arrived in Bangkok to headline the KOP RUN Bangkok 2026 event, where they'll join thousands of participants in 5K and 10K runs on September 13.
Two Liverpool legends, Sami Hyypiä and Natasha Dowie, have landed in Thailand to headline the KOP RUN Bangkok 2026 event. Hyypiä, a former Liverpool FC captain and Finland international, spent ten years at Anfield from 1999 to 2009, making 464 appearances and scoring 35 goals, and was part of the squad that won the UEFA Champions League in the historic 2005 Istanbul final. Dowie, a former Liverpool FC Women striker, scored 47 goals across two spells with the club and was instrumental in winning back-to-back Women's Super League titles in 2013 and 2014; in 2025, she became the first woman to play in Liverpool FC's annual Legends match at Anfield.
Both legends will appear at a press conference on September 11 at Suanluang Rama IX Stadium to announce final details of KOP RUN Bangkok 2026. The event culminates on Sunday, September 13, when they will join up to 10,000 participants in 5-kilometre and 10-kilometre runs at the same venue, transforming it with a Fan Festival Area inspired by the atmosphere of Anfield. This marks the return of KOP RUN Bangkok after a seven-year gap, offering Thai Liverpool supporters the rare opportunity to run alongside two club legends while celebrating the club's heritage.
