Man Buys Second-Hand Bag for Pocket Change, Thinks It's Beautiful—Shock Revelation: It's a Luxury Brand Worth Millions

A man paid just 50 baht for a second-hand bag at a thrift store, only to learn from an expert it was a rare Cartier piece worth over 1.2 million baht.

3h ago Khaosod

Lucky break! A man purchased a second-hand handbag for just $1.50 (about 50 baht) because he thought it looked nice, only to discover it was a luxury Cartier piece potentially worth over a million baht at auction. When browsing a local thrift store near his home, he spotted the bag and decided to buy it on impulse, completely unaware that it was actually a world-renowned luxury item.

Expert appraiser Catherine Van Dell from the Antiques Roadshow examined the bag and immediately recognized it was no ordinary second-hand purchase. The craftsmanship was remarkably refined and distinctive. Van Dell confirmed the bag's exceptional value: it is made of platinum and decorated with carved crystals, rubies, emeralds, sapphires, and antique European-cut diamonds. She also identified the Cartier maker's mark inside.

Van Dell revealed that if the bag were to go to auction, it would be valued at approximately $35,000 (around 1.2 million baht). The owner was astonished and moved to tears upon learning he possessed such a valuable treasure.

Suphajee Sets July 1 Date for State Agency Database Integration, Moving Toward Digital Government

Over 320 Thai government agencies will integrate their databases starting July 1, 2025, to streamline digital services and reduce administrative burdens for businesses and citizens.

3h ago Khaosod

Deputy Prime Minister and Commerce Minister Suphajee Suthammaphand presided over a digital government advancement event at the Santitiprachai Building of the Government House, announcing that starting July 1, 2025, over 320 Thai government agencies will coordinate to link government databases under the concept of "unlocking government data, reducing public burden." The Department of Business Development, under the Commerce Ministry's supervision, along with the Office of the Public Sector Development Commission and the Digital Government Development Agency, will lead this collaborative effort, which has been assigned by the Prime Minister as a crucial step in enhancing national competitiveness in the digital economy.

The government's policy aims to reform economic structure and upgrade public sector efficiency through intelligent digital systems, reducing business costs and eliminating trade obstacles to position Thailand as a regional economic hub. Integrating databases across government agencies will be essential to achieving this goal. The transition to a fully data-driven government with seamless digital systems will ensure transparency, enable citizens and businesses to access information digitally, and provide precise tools for solving national problems while helping SMEs grow equitably and access government data rapidly.

Suphajee emphasized that Thailand faces three major transformations: technological transition, building investment confidence, and elevating the country to international standards. Technology is no longer optional but essential for the government to improve public services. The database integration will enable faster service delivery, reduce paperwork steps, travel requirements, and costs for citizens and businesses.

In 2024, the Department of Business Development issued 2.3 million legal entity certificates and 10 million document copies, consuming approximately 19.2 million sheets of paper annually. Starting July 1, 2025, all 320 government agencies will access corporate data from the Department in real-time through the Business Data Exchange system, transitioning from paper-based to fully electronic services for inter-agency data verification and inspection.

Security footage from the bedroom at 12:52 a.m. recorded the couple arguing over a woman's mobile phone messages before the husband became violent. At 12:54 a.m., footage showed the victim fleeing the bedroom, but the husband pursued her with a pruning saw with a handle, striking her. At 1:08 a.m., when the victim tried to unlock the gate to escape but found it locked, the husband retrieved a firearm from his vehicle. The victim ran to neighbors for help but was assaulted again, struck on the head with the gun butt outside the camera's view.

The victim stated that her husband found her chatting with an ex-boyfriend on her phone and became jealous, leading to physical violence including pushing her down stairs, beating her with a saw handle, and striking her face and head with a gun. The incident resulted in a torn wound on her nose and leg injuries. Her sister revealed the suspect called around 1:18 a.m. threatening to kill her and demanding someone collect her corpse, and she had previously noticed bruises on her sister's body multiple times.

The victim sustained injuries from the assault including facial wounds and leg damage, and had previously attempted to seek divorce multiple times but was threatened each time.

CP Group Presents the 6th 'CP 100 Stories of Goodness 24 Hours' Awards

CP Group honored employees demonstrating exceptional goodness at the sixth annual awards ceremony, recognizing acts ranging from emergency assistance to integrity and service across its global business divisions.

3h ago Khaosod

CP Group (Charoen Pokphand Group) continues to reinforce its corporate culture of goodness through the 'CP 100 Stories of Goodness 24 Hours' program, which serves not only as a platform to recognize employees who do good but also as an important mechanism to cultivate values of positive thinking, good actions, and courage to help others in every aspect of work and life. The group recently held the sixth awards ceremony at the Charoen Pokphand Leadership Institute to honor exemplary employees from various business divisions including CP Foods, CP All, CP Extra, True Corporation, CP Land, CPRam, and Asia Era One, presenting a total of seven awards. The ceremony reflects that 'goodness' is not merely a concept but manifests in real situations—from assisting accident victims to caring for others during emergencies, maintaining integrity, and providing exceptional service. The awards ceremony was held alongside a 'Vision to Action' seminar attended by over 500 senior executives from Thailand and CP affiliates worldwide, with live broadcasts to all regions so CP personnel globally could witness, appreciate, and share inspiration from their colleagues' stories of goodness.

The 'CP 100 Stories of Goodness 24 Hours' program originated from the vision of senior chairman Thanin Chearavanont, chairman Suphacit Chearavanont, and senior vice chairman Suphachai Chearavanont, who sought to promote and advance a sustainable corporate culture of goodness. They believe goodness is not distant but arises from collective effort in small actions that grow into powerful forces driving society forward. 'Doing good can start with small things every day, and when everyone unites their strength, it becomes an important mechanism that helps develop society for the better,' reflecting the group's longstanding '3 Benefits' principle—consideration for the nation, people, and organization.

For this sixth edition, ten outstanding stories of goodness from across the group were selected through the 'We are CP' platform, where employees voted and shared stories across social media channels, receiving over one million views before final selection by the corporate committee. Seven award-winning stories emerged, demonstrating how each employee's small effort can create positive ripples throughout the community.

The seven award-winning stories reflect 'the heart of giving' across multiple dimensions. The first story, 'Braving the Flames to Stop Disaster Before It Spreads,' features CP Foods employee Donsuk Sinchai, who assisted in an automobile fire incident while returning from duty by using a fire extinguisher to contain the flames and control the situation until officials arrived, demonstrating courage and refusal to ignore others' lives.

Band Leader Yorch POW Releases Powerful Solo "Blow Your Mind" After Three Years of Development

POW band leader Yorch releases his debut solo single "Blow Your Mind" after three years of development with world-renowned producer Diplo, featuring collaborators Sik-K and Bryan Chase.

3h ago Khaosod

After nearly three years of training and development, Yorch POW from POW has finally released his debut Korean-style solo single "Blow Your Mind," marking an important milestone in his artistic career. The artist opened up about the pressure, effort, and dreams behind his journey to become a world-class Thai artist.

Yorch explained how he first heard the song during the promotion of his single "Valentine" while chatting with their main producer. "The moment I heard this song, I really wanted to sing it. At that time, it didn't have an owner, and I wasn't sure I'd actually get to perform it, but I hoped I would."

He added, "At first, I was singing it like Lucky Daye's original version, but it wasn't my style at all. No matter how many times I recorded it, I wasn't satisfied. But I didn't want to give up. I adjusted the song to fit myself better and practiced continuously. I received guidance from King Henry and Sasha Alex Sloan, and the song was refined over nearly three years."

What thrilled Yorch most was discovering the song was produced by world-renowned producer and DJ Diplo. "I was shocked to learn it was Diplo's work. I waited for feedback with excitement, and I was delighted to receive great feedback. There were also ideas to add featuring artists. After working and practicing for three years, I'm happiest that this song has become a reality."

The single also features artists Sik-K and Bryan Chase. Yorch noted, "The song became more colorful and diverse with their different sounds and rhythms. I think it really helped make the song better."

Touching moments came when his POW bandmates surprised him at the music video shoot to encourage him. "We came to give our leader and band head YORCH hyung encouragement," they said. Yorch was grateful: "I felt very tired, but when the members came and cheered me on, I immediately felt energized."

He concluded, "I love making music and always want to try new things. 'Blow Your Mind' is like the first step of a new challenge. I started as a child actor in Thailand, trained as a trainee, and now I stand here as an artist. I want to continue growing."

"I hope this growth will make me a proud Thai artist, not just in K-pop but on a world level, like senior Thai artists such as Lisa, BamBam, and Minnie. One day, I'd also like to collaborate with them."

Life-Changing Accident: Chinese Man Loses Arms and Legs, But Rises Up to Become a Bodybuilder

A Chinese bodybuilder who lost his right arm and leg in a road accident a decade ago competed in a provincial competition in Jinan, inspiring thousands online with his determination to never surrender to fate.

3h ago Khaosod

Never Give Up! A Chinese man who lost his arm and leg in a road accident refused to surrender to fate, taking up bodybuilding and becoming an inspiration that has won online acclaim.

A Chinese man with only one arm and one leg impressed audiences both at the competition venue and across social media after taking the bodybuilding stage and receiving thunderous applause from spectators.

Liu Xinzhu, 32, participated in the 20th bodybuilding competition held in Jinan, the capital of Shandong Province in eastern China on May 10. He competed in the weight category not exceeding 65 kilograms.

His performance video was quickly shared and went viral on Chinese social media. Many people were moved and admired his determination, earning him the nickname "Encouraging Brother," according to local media reports.

Ten years ago, Liu suffered a severe road accident that cost him his right arm and right leg. He subsequently fell into despair, spending most of his time in bed playing on his phone, which severely damaged his eyesight.

However, his family tried to motivate him to fight back through life with tough love, using the phrase "you're useless like that," which, though harsh, was intended to get him back on his feet. This became a turning point in his life.

Liu decided to make a fresh start by dedicating himself seriously to fitness. As a former athlete, he already had a foundation of discipline and strength, which he developed until he could eventually take the bodybuilding stage.

When asked by skeptics, he responded: "I just fell down, I didn't die. Why do you think I can't get back up?" He emphasized that even though his body is disabled, as long as his mind remains strong, he can still live a happy life.

On competition day, Liu humbly said that standing on the same stage as provincial champion-level athletes was an enormous honor for him. Spectators stood and applauded him with admiration, calling him a symbol of hope and perseverance.

Although official competition results haven't been released, Liu's story has generated widespread acclaim online, with many holding him up as an inspiration for fighting through life.

He also revealed that he receives government assistance of approximately 1,100 yuan, or about 5,300 baht per month, and intends to repay the gym that allowed him to train without charge.

Ultimately, people online have expressed overwhelming admiration. Some even called him a "real-life Superman," while others said his story made their own life problems seem smaller and filled them with inspiration to move forward.
