Actor Got Ittipat Thanittha has withdrawn from a BL series project after facing heavy criticism from netizens over past statements where he said he wouldn't act in BL dramas anymore. Got clarified that he views all work as simply acting and hasn't gone back on his word.
The young actor is returning to television after a 2-3 year absence with an upcoming series called "Passenger on the Old Fire Lane," but controversy erupted shortly after the trailer was released. Netizens shared comments criticizing actors who act in BL dramas but are ashamed to tell others, or who claim they won't do BL work again.
At the Chuchai Influ Diamond Night party event at Hotel Muse, Got opened up about the drama. He explained that the production company initially approached him, and he accepted the role because he viewed it as work. He noted that fans had been asking on his TikTok livestream when he would return to acting.
Got said: "The company contacted me, and I thought of it as a job, so I accepted. It's not a major storyline. I thought, let's just chill with this. But after the pilot was released, I didn't look into all the details. I was confused and shocked by the drama that erupted. Friends and colleagues started reaching out to discuss the controversy. I thought about how to handle this since I'm already filming another series that's nearing completion.
"This project is a future one, and I felt uncomfortable. I wasn't sure if it would cause problems down the road because I don't want to cause trouble or disappointment for anyone. So I talked to the production company and decided to withdraw from the project."
When asked if this meant a complete withdrawal, Got confirmed: "Yes, completely. As I explained from the beginning, I took it as a job. But now the backlash is quite intense, and I don't feel comfortable with it."
Asked if he feared it would impact his current work, Got said: "Yes, especially considering my fellow cast members and other projects. Because this is long-term, I felt forcing myself forward wouldn't be beneficial. I also have respect for the production and the cast of my current work."
Regarding his character, Got explained he read the full synopsis and asked the production about his character's weight in the story. They said his role was just one element of the overall narrative—a point of change for the main character's journey.
Clarifying further, Got said: "I'm not playing a BL couple. There's no romantic pairing involved. It's just a regular series where I play one character."
