Amulets from a disgraced abbot arrested for allegedly misappropriating over 92 million baht from his Ayutthaya temple are now fetching tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of baht among collectors seeking the rare 2549-vintage pieces.

July 10, 2566 became a major story for Thailand's amulet and yellow-shirt communities following the arrest of Phra Wachirayana, known as Luang Pho Atichorti Dhammavaro or Luang Pho Choti, 66, abbot of Wat Phutthai Sawan royal temple in Ayutthaya province. He was arrested under court warrant for fraud and misconduct (Case 29/2569, dated September 8, 2569) on suspicion of misappropriating temple funds exceeding 92 million baht and transferring them through close associates. Video evidence also emerged of alleged drug use within the temple grounds.
Regarding Luang Pho Choti's popular 2549-vintage amulets from Wat Phutthai Sawan, which are highly prized among amulet collectors, price checks on the Tao Phra Jan Dot Com website show the 2549 amulets commanding worship prices ranging from tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of baht. Some individual amulets are priced as high as 240,000 baht.
