Arsenal, currently leading the English Premier League, has confirmed that Ben White, the England national team defender, will miss the rest of the season and faces the prospect of being sidelined for the World Cup.
The 28-year-old defender suffered a knee injury during the first half of Arsenal's victory over West Ham United in the Premier League last Sunday.
Arsenal's medical team released a statement regarding his injury, stating: "Our medical team is managing Ben's rehabilitation, with everyone working at full capacity to help get Ben fit in time for the start of our preseason."
White has made 30 appearances for Arsenal across all competitions this season, including playing in the last five matches.
The announcement suggests he will miss the opportunity to represent England at the World Cup this summer, with England manager Thomas Tuchel set to announce his squad on May 22.
