Bang Khen Police Host Kathin Ceremony in Kamphaeng Phet
Bang Khen Police Station held a Kathin merit-making ceremony at Wat Thung Ruang Thong in Kamphaeng Phet on November 1, presided over by Superintendent Pol. Lt. Col. Anan Warasat.
Bang Khen 1 Police Station organized the 2026 Kathin unity ceremony at Wat Thung Ruang Thong in Kamphaeng Phet province, dedicating merit to relatives and benefactors. On November 2, 2026, Pol. Lt. Col. Anan Warasat, superintendent of Bang Khen Police Station, presided over the ceremony attended by Mayor Thongchai Phengphu, Arunrung Phengphu, Duangkamol Niphaphonchai, Pol. Lt. Col. Pornchai Wongprasertkan, Pol. Lt. Col. Thira Langamwong, Pol. Lt. Col. Yuranan Phetmani, police officers, and local villagers at Wat Thung Ruang Thong in Mai Kong subdistrict, Thairangam district, Kamphaeng Phet on November 1.
Pol. Lt. Col. Anan explained that Kathin refers to the triple robe the Buddha permitted monks who have completed the three-month rains retreat at a temple to receive. It is considered a special merit-making act known as 'Kala-dana' (merit-making at a designated time).
The meaning and important details: 'Kathin' in Pali translates to 'rigid wood' (a wooden frame used to stretch cloth for sewing robes in the Buddha's time). The Kathin period lasts only one month each year, from the first waning moon of the 11th lunar month to the 15th waxing moon of the 12th lunar month (after the end of Buddhist Lent). Each temple may receive Kathin only once per year, and it must be offered to the Sangha community, not to any specific monk individually. Monks receiving the Kathin robe must complete the Vinaya ceremony called 'Krana Kathin' within that same day.
Pol. Lt. Col. Anan also expressed gratitude to the police volunteer corps, advisors, police officers of Bang Khen Station, relatives, friends, and all Dhamma heirs. May the merit from this act benefit himself, his family, relatives, friends, benefactors, and those who may have been wronged or harmed in past lives, whether intentionally or unintentionally, that they may all receive this merit. Sadhu.
