Wat Phutthapromyan in Chachoengsao province held its ninth annual Grand Kathin ceremony on November 7, raising over 116.4 million baht — surpassing last year's 102 million despite lower attendance due to competing events. Thousands of devotees joined the merit-making procession, led by senior monks and local dignitaries. Funds will support temple construction projects, debt repayment, and ongoing Buddhist activities.
Faith overflows at Wat Phutthapromyan's Grand Kathin ceremony as donations surpass 116 million baht, delighting Buddhist devotees. On November 7, 2026, reporters noted that at Wat Phutthapromyan, 99 Moo 2, Bang Talad, Khlong Khuean, led by Phra Worapanyarak (Luang Por Chao Khun Ekachai), the temple abbot, the Million Kathin, Million Good Deeds, Million Hearts for Buddhism event was held for a consecutive year. It gathered faithful power from disciples and devotees nationwide, creating a phenomenon of great merit, marking another historic chapter in Kathin offerings. This year's net Kathin total reached 116,477,601.41 baht, bringing joy and inspiration to Buddhists. This massive merit-making sum arose from the power of faith, unity, and determination of Buddhists jointly preserving Buddhism, exceeding last year's 102 million baht. Despite fewer attendees than last year due to concurrent Kathin events at many temples, faith remained strong as devotees flocked to make merit, pushing the total beyond the target. During the ceremony, Phra Ajarn Ekachai Panyako led the circumambulation and offering to the Triple Gem, presented the Kathin cloth to repay the Sangha's debts, and led the Grand Kathin procession to the Luang Por Phra Raj Phromyan Pavilion. This year's Kathin chairs were Associate Professor Dr. Pichanee Phanaramik and Mr. Pichit Phanaramik with family, joined by the Wat Phutthapromyan Phichancharam Foundation, disciples, and all faithful devotees who united in this great merit-making. Thousands of Buddhists and disciples traveled to create great merit, wholeheartedly continuing the Kathin tradition and firmly supporting Buddhism. Proceeds from this Grand Kathin will fund Buddhist activities and develop Wat Phutthapromyan, including building a Grand Chedi, a Glass Ubosot, purchasing land, repaying Sangha debts, constructing a parking lot, a second pier, a meeting hall, and supporting internal temple expenses to benefit Buddhist activities and serve as a venue for religious practice. Although the Million Kathin project concludes in its ninth year, the power of faith and goodness created by all remains, like a merit legacy engraved in hearts, becoming another vital force in preserving Buddhism. The project's nine-year success reflects not just donation figures but the power of faith and cooperation of many like-hearted people united in supporting Buddhism and continuing the Kathin tradition.
