Jet Ski Explosion Burns Racer at Samut Prakan Race
A jet ski exploded during the Sigyn Thailand racing event in Samut Prakan, severely burning a 40-year-old competitor from Udon Thani. Rescue teams on site quickly pulled the racer from the water and rushed him to hospital for facial burns. Investigators suspect a leaking fuel valve triggered the blast, though a full probe is underway.
At 1:15 p.m. on November 7, 2026, media reported a jet ski engine explosion and fire during the Sigyn Thailand jet ski racing competition at Khlong Song Nam Suvarnabhumi in Bang Phli, Samut Prakan. A male racer sustained serious injuries when flames engulfed his face.
Upon notification, rescue workers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation, who were on standby at the event, quickly deployed a flat-bottom boat to reach the injured rider before transferring him to an ambulance for hospital transport.
The injured racer is identified as 40-year-old Kittirat from Udon Thani, one of the competitors in this event. He suffered burns to his face from the flames and is currently receiving treatment at a hospital.
Interviews with the racer's team mechanic revealed that a preliminary engine inspection found a leaking fuel valve, which is believed to have caused the explosion and fire. However, the exact cause requires further detailed investigation.
Mobile phone footage captured by Natthaphong Chaiyat shows the moment the racer was piloting his jet ski on the course before the engine suddenly exploded and flames erupted rapidly. The racer was forced to abandon the craft and jump into the water to escape the fire, where teammates rushed to provide initial assistance.
