The latest development came on October 28, 2026, when Bang Pa-in Police Station investigators expanded their interviews to include family members and individuals living near the residence. Ayutthaya Provincial Forensic Police collected additional evidence, particularly DNA test results and CCTV footage. During the re-interviews, suspicion fell on the statement of Chalermchai, nicknamed "Ning," age 36, who had been dating the child's mother, Jaranaya, age 36, since she was four months pregnant. Police took Ning for a drug test, which returned positive. Pol. Lt. Col. Pipop Naphuthara, Bang Pa-in Investigation Superintendent, took him into custody for detailed questioning until he confessed. Ning stated that before midnight on October 22, he paddled an orange plastic boat from his house, which connects to Khlong Ban Len, to Jaranaya's house. He claimed he and the mother were talking, but her mother — the child's grandmother — had tried to keep them apart, forcing him to visit secretly by boat. He had seen the child and grown attached, wanting to raise the baby himself. He had previously asked the mother for the child but was refused. On the night of the incident, he intended to take the child from the house to care for him, not to cause harm. Upon arriving, he moored the boat at the house adjacent to Khlong Ban Len, climbed up, and took the sleeping child from the crib while the mother and grandmother slept. As he was descending to the boat, the child began crying, waking the grandmother. Startled, Ning lost his grip and the child fell into the canal. He then fled the scene by boat. Police seized the orange plastic boat and paddle from Ning's house for forensic examination. Forensic officers collected DNA traces and fingerprints from the boat and paddle to serve as case evidence and verify links to the night of the incident. Police then took Ning, wearing an orange life vest, out of the interrogation room for a crime scene reenactment, bringing the boat he used to the incident house. Starting from Ning's house, he demonstrated paddling out, then traveling approximately 180 meters to the incident house on the canal bank. He then climbed into the house. The child's mother attempted to attack Ning but was restrained.
