Brothers Arrested For Fatal Shooting At Ordination Ceremony
Two brothers are wanted for shooting and killing a 36-year-old man at an ordination ceremony in Ayutthaya, after reportedly striking him with a bottle before opening fire despite assurances that past conflicts had been resolved.
Authorities have issued arrest warrants for two brothers, 33-year-old Wiroj and 27-year-old Thani, in connection with a fatal shooting at a pre-ordination ceremony in Moo 7, Phraya Ban Lue, Lad Bua Luang District, Ayutthaya Province. The incident claimed the life of 36-year-old Piyadom and injured 27-year-old DJ Suphannee with a stray bullet.
According to the victim's wife, a friend named Wa had invited her husband to the ordination ceremony and assured him that past conflicts with the suspects had been resolved. Despite knowing the other party would attend, the victim and his wife decided to go. While mingling with guests, gunshots erupted. The wife heard the shots and found her husband lying motionless in a pool of blood. Witnesses report the suspects first struck the victim with a bottle before shooting him at close range.
The victim's sister revealed that a dispute had occurred during Songkran, but both sides had apologized and reached an understanding. The family did not expect the violence to escalate. The victim was the family's breadwinner, supporting his mother, wife, and elementary school-age daughter. He had just acquired a new vehicle two days prior, intending to use it for work to secure his family's future.
The Ayutthaya Provincial Court approved arrest warrants charging both men with murder, attempted murder, unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition, unlawful carrying of firearms in public, and reckless discharge of a firearm. A ceremony to receive the victim's remains is being held at Wat Yai temple in Bang Pa-in District.
