Buriram United Signs Spanish Right-Back Lucas Ahijado for 2026/27

Buriram United have signed Spanish right‑back Lucas Ahijado Quintana, 31, to strengthen their squad for the 2026/27 Thai League season. Ahijado came through the youth ranks at Real Oviedo, made his senior debut in 2013/14, and later helped the club win promotion back to La Liga after a two‑decade absence. Buriram United, known as the 'Thunder Castle,' announced the signing of Spanish right‑back Lucas Ahijado Quintana, 31, to bolster the squad for the 2026/27 Thai League season. The club formally introduced Ahijado, who began his career at his hometown club Real Oviedo, progressing through youth ranks before making his senior debut in 2013/14. After limited first‑team opportunities, he spent time with the reserves, making 38 appearances, scoring two goals and adding four assists before reclaiming a regular place in the senior side and continuing to play for Real Oviedo. In the 2024/25 season, Ahijado played alongside Sebastian Moyano, a current Buriram United forward, helping the team secure promotion back to La Liga after a hiatus of over 20 years. During the 2025/26 La Liga season he featured in 20 matches before his contract with Real Oviedo expired, ending a stint of more than 10 years with the club in which he made 176 appearances, scored three goals and recorded 14 assists. Now, for the first time in his career, the 31‑year‑old defender is moving abroad to join Buriram United, where he will wear the number 17 shirt for the 2026/27 campaign.
