The Cabinet has approved the appointment of Piyapong Jiwattanakul as the new Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Transport, replacing Chayatherm Phrommasr who is set to retire on September 30 this year. The decision was made on August 11, 2569, following a proposal from the Ministry of Transport. Piyapong Jiwattanakul, currently 50 years old, has approximately 10 years of civil service remaining until 2579. He became the youngest Director-General of the Department of Highways in history when appointed to that position on October 1, 2568.
