Changan Marks 3 Years in Thailand, Targets 30K Annual Sales
Chinese EV maker Changan celebrated three years in Thailand by reinforcing the country's status as its ASEAN headquarters and largest overseas production base. The company's Rayong factory, built with a 10-billion-baht investment, now produces the DEEPAL S05 and NEVO Q05 for domestic sales and export to 18 markets. Changan targets 30,000 annual sales in 2026 after selling over 35,000 vehicles in its first three years.
Changan, a leader in new energy vehicle (NEV) technology, held its 'CHANGAN DAY 2026: GO FURTHER TOGETHER' event to mark three years of operations in Thailand. The company emphasized Thailand's position as its Southeast Asian headquarters and committed to making the country its largest manufacturing and export hub outside China. Over the past three years, Changan has sold more than 35,000 vehicles in Thailand, with annual sales jumping from approximately 5,000 units in 2024 to 14,000 in 2025. The company has set a 2026 sales target of 30,000 units, representing an average annual growth rate exceeding 100%.
The Changan Automobile Rayong Factory, the company's first NEV production base outside China, was built in 18 months with an investment exceeding 10 billion baht. It officially began operations in May 2025 and currently produces two models: the DEEPAL S05 and NEVO Q05. The facility covers key manufacturing processes from body welding and painting to final assembly and battery pack production, boosting domestic EV component capacity. Changan aims to export 6,000 Thai-made EVs to 18 countries and regions by 2026.
Ricky Wu, Vice President and Chief Customer Officer of Changan Auto Asia Pacific, said the first year focused on brand introduction with CHANGAN, DEEPAL, and AVATR. The second year saw the factory start production, fulfilling investment promises. In the third year, products gained Thai consumer trust. Changan has launched nine NEV models across two brands — CHANGAN (DEEPAL, NEVO, LUMIN series) and the luxury AVATR brand — with several winning Car of the Year and design awards. The locally produced DEEPAL S05 topped monthly EV SUV registrations, while the NEVO Q05, launched mid-2026, garnered 2,200 bookings in its first week. Changan's Thai supplier network has also expanded from over 30 partners.
