On October 29, 2026, Caligo Resort in Ban Ta Khun District, Surat Thani Province, launched Cheow Lan Art Space by Caligo — a new creative area and art tourism landmark at Cheow Lan Dam. The project aims to develop the site into a tourist attraction and creative community hub where tourists, young people, artists, and locals can meet, exchange ideas, learn, and create together.
Namphunyot Yongbut Marotrakul, manager of Cheow Lan Art Space and chair of the Caligo Art Festival 2026 organizing committee, said the project follows the second Caligo Art Festival 2026, which drew over 50 participants from more than eight districts in Surat Thani. Award-winning and selected works will be displayed continuously for one year.
Future plans include monthly creative activities with teachers, artists, craftsmen, and experts leading short courses and workshops in painting, photography, handicrafts, invention, and embroidery. The space will welcome students, youth, the general public, and tourists visiting Ratchaprapha Dam, Cheow Lan Dam, and Khao Sok National Park to view exhibitions, take photos, and join scheduled activities.
The project also seeks to foster local community participation by providing a platform for residents, artists, and craft entrepreneurs to share knowledge, pass on local wisdom, and co-create activities linking art, culture, lifestyle, and tourism. Visitors can support displayed artworks, with proceeds funding art scholarships for youth and creators and supporting future project activities.
"We want Cheow Lan Art Space to be more than an exhibition venue — a creative tourism landmark where everyone can spend time together, whether viewing art, taking photos, learning crafts, or joining workshops," Namphunyot said. "We want this to be a community for tourists, youth, artists, and locals to exchange experiences, find inspiration, and create together year-round." Caligo Resort also aims to establish the Caligo Art Festival as an annual event and develop Cheow Lan Art Space into a key art and cultural tourism destination in Surat Thani under the concept "Art Space Creates Opportunities, Creates Inspiration, Connects People and Communities."
