Following a major crackdown on illegal gambling operations, Chiang Mai's provincial police commander has issued orders reassigning the superintendent of Chang Phueak Police Station. Deputy Interior Minister Peer Suvannavee, along with special units from the Department of Local Administration and police officers, conducted raids on two large-scale gambling facilities in Chang Phueak and central Chiang Mai districts under Operation "Pink City Suppression," resulting in multiple arrests and seizures of evidence.
On September 19, Police Major General Yutthana Kaenjan, Chiang Mai Provincial Police Commander, established a fact-finding committee and reassigned Deputy Superintendent Sawek Chusiri to serve as provincial deputy police commander while Deputy Commander Chindej Deetrue temporarily takes over as Chang Phueak Police Station superintendent. The investigation will examine all relevant details including operational conduct, area oversight, and related matters according to applicable laws and regulations. Officials have confirmed that no shortcomings will be overlooked, and those found responsible for violations will face legal action in accordance with national police regulations.
Chiang Mai Mayor Asanee Boonnupakorn has issued a statement clarifying that the individual referenced as "Khong" in reports is not a member of the Chiang Mai Municipal Council and has no connection to the municipality. Any individuals potentially involved in the matter are currently under investigation and being processed by relevant authorities.
