Chonburi Beats BG Pathum 1-0, Climbs to 14th Place
Chonburi FC defeated BG Pathum United 1-0 at home to claim a second straight Thai League win and rise to 14th place. Interim coach Witthaya "Heng" Laohakul praised the team's defensive strength but warned that execution remains far below the 80 percent target, urging continued hard work in training.
Interim Chonburi FC head coach Witthaya "Heng" Laohakul praised his side's defensive display after they edged BG Pathum United 1-0 in the latest Thai League fixture, lifting the club to 14th in the standings.
Chonburi hosted BG Pathum and secured a 1-0 victory thanks to Saharat Santhisawat's 64th-minute strike, marking their second consecutive win and bringing their tally to six points, enough to climb to 14th place.
After the match, Coach Heng lauded the Sharks — particularly their defensive organization — but insisted the entire squad must continue to grind for results. "The rhythm we're building is already good, but scoring goals is what separates winners from losers in football. I've told everyone we're still 16th out of 16 teams — is that something to be happy about? But our defense ranks fourth out of 16, and today we showed just how solid it can be, especially in aerial duels.
"Tactical understanding is improving steadily, both in short and long phases. In the long run this will benefit Chonburi — the players' grasp of the game plan and their discipline in executing it. I've been straight with them: our target is 80 percent execution, but today we only hit about 20 percent. Those numbers need to be known by every player, and we have to work together daily — especially in training. We don't train just for the sake of training; we train for perfection, to win. The players understand that and they're putting in the effort.
"We're a small club, so teamwork is crucial. Individual skill might win you a match here and there, but teamwork wins every match. I'm confident that as we keep playing attractive attacking football, the results will follow. There are many more games ahead where we can bring joy to Chonburi fans."
