Chris Horwang Excited to Be Aunt, Says Still Single
Actress Chris Horwang shared her excitement about becoming an aunt as sister Ploy Horwang
Chris Horwang's family is expecting a new addition as her younger sister Ploy Horwang prepares to become a mother. Chris is thrilled about becoming an aunt and hints at spoiling the baby with gifts. At the recent "BEAUTRIUM 15th ANNIVERSARY BEAUTY TOGETHER" event at Siam Square Walking Street, she shared her excitement and joked about being tricked into becoming the baby's godparent during the gender reveal party.
Asked if she would leave her inheritance to the niece, Chris laughed: "The niece? Honestly, Chris doesn't want to talk much because everyone teases me. They say 'wait and see,' and today I'm saying not much. Wait until the baby is born, I'll probably be broke. I have no experience, so I'm not sure. But I went to China with my mom, and she dragged me into a doll store. Then we went to Paris, and I found myself standing in the middle of a Baby Dior store, not knowing why. The baby isn't even born yet, the baby hasn't had a chance to trick me — their mother tricked me first!"
How did she trick you? "At the gender reveal party, the older sister called, Ploy called, and said, 'Chris, Chris, you're the godparent!' I was busy working and didn't even know what 'godparent' meant. I just said okay. When I got there, they had a betting pool on whether it was a boy or girl, and whoever lost had to pay the difference — the godparent had to cover it. I realized that day and begged them not to let me agree to anything the next day without studying it first."
How much did you contribute? "That day, more people bet on a girl, so I survived. I might just pay for the cake or something small, but I'm still nervous."
Since it's a niece, the accessories must be extraordinary? "Right after the gender reveal, the first thing Chris posted on Instagram had a caption like: 'Oh no, girl trips, makeup, clothes, bags — I'm dead, broke, she has all the rights.' (No problem, keep aunt's stuff?) "No, the parents are rich, let them give."
Have you prepared a gift yet? "Not yet. I'm not sure what people give these days. When Chris was a kid, they gave gold, right? Because gold was cheaper then. They gave necklaces. What do they give now? (Gold again?) It's expensive! (Laughs) But the parents are rich. (But aunt is richer?) Merit, merit. Might give gold." (Need a signed confirmation that it's for the niece?) "Might need a little signing, or the parents will swindle it."
Do you consider yourself doting on the niece now? "Excited! Really excited. I've had nieces and nephews before, but they're distant relatives. This one feels close. I'm excited because Chris thinks Chris might not have time to have kids herself, so this is my niece. Just talking about it costs money already — sounds like I'll be spending a lot."
Does the mom-to-be give you updates on morning sickness? Meet often? "Not that often, but we talk. She said recently she went to an event — usually she goes to sports events, fashion shows. The older sister went to a baby best buy event and said she stood there dazed for three hours thinking, 'What do I have to buy first?' It was funny."
Has she slowed down her lifestyle since becoming pregnant? "She gets scolded by grandma. Ploy is told to do things more slowly because both Chris and Ploy are fast, rush-rush, not very careful. But she can't fall because she's pregnant, so grandma scolds her."
What about you? How worried are you about your sister? "Chris isn't that worried. Ploy is capable, and her husband is capable too. I only worry about her rushing around. That's it. Not really worried about her, just worried about the baby."
