Commerce Ministry Cuts Vegetarian Festival Prices With 45 Partners
Thailand's Ministry of Commerce teamed up with 45 partners to offer up to 50 percent discounts on vegetarian food and ingredients at Bangkok's Ying Charoen Market from October 10 to 18. The initiative aims to relieve living costs, especially in flood-affected areas, while monitoring prices and supply. The festival also features innovative vegetarian dishes created with local universities.
The Ministry of Commerce announced that it has coordinated with 45 partners, including retailers, wholesale markets, and fresh markets, to offer promotions that cut prices of vegetarian foods and ingredients by up to half during the festival. Ready-to-eat dishes and alternative vegetarian menus are also available to help households manage expenses. The ministry is monitoring product prices and supply closely, particularly in regions impacted by recent flooding, and has worked with producers to distribute adequate amounts of vegetables, pork, chicken, and eggs. In addition, the event showcases innovative vegetarian dishes developed with Chulalongkorn University and Kasetsart University, featuring future food concepts such as protein noodle salad and shredded tofu with egg. Officials thanked all participating businesses and urged the public to take part in the merit-making and value-driven activities throughout the nine-day festival, with further information available via the Department of Internal Trade hotline 1569.
