Commerce Ministry Launches Flood-Relief Discounts Up to 78%
Thailand’s Ministry of Commerce has launched a nationwide flood‑relief programme that partners with 27 private firms to cut prices of essential goods by as much as 78%. The initiative will open over 3,000 discount points across the country, including 300 in Bangkok and the rest in 76 provinces, running for three months from mid‑October 2026. It also includes special promotions on building materials, cleaning supplies, electrical appliances and automotive services to help flood‑affected families recover.
The scheme will sell three groups of products at reduced prices: highlighted items such as eggs, rice, palm oil and sugar; daily consumer goods from manufacturers in five categories including household supplies, personal‑care products, detergents, food and seasonings, and cleaning equipment; and other goods like electrical appliances, house brands, SME products, GI‑registered items, provincially promoted products and agricultural produce. The initiative aims to relieve about 200 million baht of household expenses over its duration. In addition, 27 businesses are running a ‘Thai Helps Thai – Fight Floods’ promotion from October to November 2026, offering 4,223 product and service lines discounted up to 78% for flood‑affected households needing home repairs, cleaning, appliance replacement and vehicle maintenance. Specific discounts include up to 77% on 998 building‑materials, cleaning‑tools and electrical‑appliance items, with free home‑inspection after flooding and big‑cleaning services; and up to 64% on 1,827 automotive‑service items such as engine oil, tyres, batteries and spare parts, plus free vehicle‑condition checks.
