Volunteers Deny Harm in Mother's Transfer to Nursing Home
Two rescue volunteers told police they were hired by a man and his wife to take his mother, who has a mental illness, to a nursing home in Kanchanaburi. They say they removed scissors from her hand and helped her into a vehicle without using force, while the son watched. Police have taken their statements as witnesses and are investigating the allegations.
On October 9, 2025, volunteers Thammanoon, 25, and Theerapong, 46, went to Wang Thonglang Police Station to give statements after Ms. Natr, 63, claimed on the program ‘Hone Krasae’ that her son Benz and his wife had hired them to seize her and confine her at the Sothornchai Elderly Care Home in Tha Muang district, Kanchanaburi province, alleging she was beaten, threatened and physically assaulted before her daughter and sister rescued her.
Theerapong said Benz called and asked them to pick up his mother, who has a psychiatric condition, and take her to the Sothornchai facility. When they arrived at her home, they found Ms. Natr holding scissors; they grabbed her arm from behind, removed the scissors, and despite her resistance, helped her into the vehicle. He insisted no physical violence occurred, adding that Benz and his girlfriend watched the whole scene without objecting. He said the 15,000 baht they received was merely compensation for fuel, noting that transporting mentally ill patients to hospitals is routine for rescue volunteers.
Police Colonel Jesda Yangnok, commander of Wang Thonglang Police Station, said the two volunteers have been taken on record as witnesses because handling psychiatric patients is standard practice for rescue teams and they came forward voluntarily to show good faith. He added they were asked by the son to help bring his mother to the elderly care home, and the son observed them while they assisted. No charges have been filed yet; if evidence points to wrongdoing, the suspects will be summoned for appropriate charges.
