Villagers Deploy Six Dragon Pumps to Avert Flooding in Chachoengsao
Authorities in Chachoengsao have mobilized six dragon‑type water pumps to prevent floodwaters from Klong Khuean district from inundating the city center. The pumps are being installed at the Ban Mai station to work alongside larger units, diverting water from irrigation canals into the Bang Pakong River. Officials warn that without swift drainage, surrounding fish ponds, shrimp farms and farmland could suffer extensive damage.
Villagers from the area have brought six dragon‑type water pumps to the Ban Mai pumping station in Tha Kai subdistrict to boost drainage after a major water mass from Klong Khuean district merged with the irrigation canal, raising its level and inundating Tha Kai. To mitigate the impact on homes and surrounding agricultural land, local agencies and residents are installing the six pumps to work with larger pumps, aiming to flush water from the irrigation canal into the Bang Pakong River and keep it out of the Tha Kai canal, which lies closest to the city center. Thaworn Boonsuan, 57, vice president of the Bang Khwan SAO, explained that they coordinated with Tha Kai SAO after hearing about the incoming water mass, noting that failure to drain it in time could cause extensive damage to shrimp and fish ponds as well as nearby farmland.
