Company Distances Itself From Employee's Controversial Monk Crash Posts
An 11-year-old driving a pickup truck killed 10 monks in a Nakhon Ratchasima crash on July 3; SWAN Careers distanced itself from an employee who posted controversial comments blaming monks for the tragedy.
A tragic traffic accident on July 3 along the Mukdahan-Ubon Ratchathani road in Nakhon Ratchasima province left 10 Buddhist monks dead and many others injured after an 11-year-old boy took a pickup truck and lost control, striking a procession of monks. Following the incident, a woman posted controversial comments on social media, arguing that "roads are for vehicles, not monks," and suggesting the accident was inevitable regardless of the circumstances. Her post, which used the hashtag #StopMonkAlms walks on roadsides, drew considerable public criticism. SWAN Careers responded with a statement clarifying that the woman is no longer employed by the company and that her comments represent personal opinions, not company positions. The company emphasized its commitment to appropriate, respectful, and responsible communication both in the workplace and on social media, and stated it would review its guidelines for employee social media conduct.
