The Cope: Liverpool Eyes Arne Slot Replacement as Bournemouth's Enzo Maresca Emerges as Top Candidate
Liverpool is reportedly considering Bournemouth manager Andoni Iraola as a potential replacement for under-fire boss Arne Slot, with football director Richard Hughes already making contact with the Spanish coach.
Reports indicate Liverpool is considering Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth's manager, as a potential replacement for Arne Slot should the club decide to remove the Dutch coach from his position. Slot has faced heavy criticism in his second season managing Liverpool, as the team has delivered disappointing results and failed to win any major trophy, while still battling to secure a UEFA Champions League quota spot despite currently sitting fifth in the Premier League. Earlier, rumors circulated that Liverpool's board had decided to sack Slot at the end of this season, despite previously backing the manager. According to the latest report from Foot Mercato, Liverpool's leadership has not ruled out dismissing Slot and is considering Andoni Iraola, Bournemouth's manager, who is expected to leave his club at the end of the season, as a potential replacement. The report further states that Richard Hughes, Liverpool's football director, has begun contact with Iraola, whom he knows well from their time working together at Bournemouth, and is keen to collaborate with the Spanish manager once again. However, James Pearce from The Athletic has stated that rumors regarding Slot's dismissal are unfounded and that the manager's status with the club remains unchanged.
