Four family members in Rayong were hospitalized after eating wild mushrooms they foraged from a roadside, developing severe abdominal pain and vomiting hours after the meal.
Four residents from Nong Nam Yen village in Muang District, Rayong Province were rushed to Chulalongkorn Hospital (Mab Ta Phut) in the early morning hours of May 22 after experiencing severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. According to preliminary investigation, the family had collected wild mushrooms called "het phung tham" that grow along Ratsadamnoen Road in the evening and boiled them to prepare a family meal. Initially after eating, there were no unusual symptoms. However, approximately four hours later, as everyone was preparing for bed, all four family members simultaneously began experiencing severe abdominal pain, nausea, and vomiting. They immediately called for emergency rescue assistance and were transported to the hospital. Doctors have admitted all four patients for treatment and are keeping them hospitalized under close medical observation until they are confident the patients are out of danger and safe before allowing relatives to take them home.
