DSI Dismantles Premier League Piracy Network Linked to Illegal Gambling
Police dismantled a Premier League piracy network operating the "Doopeanteam" website, which streamed matches to over 60,000 viewers while promoting illegal gambling, with estimated copyright damages exceeding 2 billion baht.
The Department of Special Investigation (DSI) launched Operation LION STRIKE on September 1, conducting simultaneous raids at six locations—two in Bangkok, two in Nonthaburi, and two in Phuket—to dismantle a network illegally streaming Premier League matches online. DSI officials arrested four suspects managing the "Doopeanteam" website, which broadcast major football competitions including the Premier League, World Cup, and Euro tournaments, and found evidence linking it to the "UFA Thai" online gambling network. The operation seized multiple devices including 7 mobile phones, 3 laptops, 1 television, 1 desktop computer, 1 tablet, 1 SSD card, 5 bank account books, 8 copies of deposit statements, and 278,000 baht in cash.
The Doopeanteam website network had accumulated over 60,000 viewers who watched streams free of charge while being exposed to illegal gambling advertisements. Authorities estimate that copyright infringement related to the 2025-2026 and 2026-2027 Premier League seasons caused damages exceeding 2 billion baht. The network operated by intercepting live broadcast signals, converting them, and distributing them through unauthorized online channels—a practice that directly violated copyright protections and damaged legitimate rights holders' revenue and broadcast management systems. DSI plans to expand the investigation to four or five additional related websites.
