Education Deputy Minister Orders Permanent Teaching License Revocation
The Thai Education Ministry will permanently revoke teaching licenses in serious abuse cases and launch a Rights Protection Center in September to investigate complaints more transparently, Deputy Minister Akkhananth Kannittinan announced.
Education Deputy Minister Akkhananth Kannittinan announced on July 14, 2026, that the government is taking firm action against teachers accused of student abuse, including permanent revocation of teaching licenses in serious cases. He noted that while both good and bad teachers exist in the system, recent cases have prompted strict disciplinary investigations and temporary license suspensions, with discussions underway about permanent revocation in high-profile cases. In response to concerns about school safety, Akkhananth said the Education Ministry is establishing a Rights Protection and Freedom Center launching in September. The center will investigate complaints transparently and efficiently, though he acknowledged that victims often turn to influencers and celebrities because school administrators historically tried to manage problems internally without proper resolution. He stressed that the ministry is committed to solving the problem through stronger law enforcement and strict compliance with regulations to rebuild public trust. When asked about protecting complainants, Akkhananth explained that the Traffic Fongdoow application will be used to file reports, which will be kept confidential in a database without details being disclosed, addressing past mismanagement that affected school performance metrics.
