Family Flees Udon Thani After Disabled Student Assaulted
A disabled 12-year-old was assaulted by four older students at a school in Udon Thani, prompting his family to flee the province despite receiving 16,000 baht in compensation, citing ongoing safety concerns.
A 12-year-old sixth-grade student with a disability was assaulted by four older students at a school in Nong Phai Subdistrict, Nong Harn District, Udon Thani Province, triggering widespread criticism of school safety protocols. Following mediation between both parties, the perpetrators' parents agreed to pay 4,000 baht in compensation to each victim, totaling 16,000 baht, and the legal matter was closed.
The victim's mother has now decided to relocate her family to another province. She told reporters that despite the compensation being settled, she remains deeply anxious and fearful. Her son is still afraid of being attacked again by his older classmates, and she must work far away, making it difficult to protect him closely. She worries the perpetrators may return to harm or bully her son again. She emphasized that money cannot compare to her child's safety and mental wellbeing. She has decided to move her family away immediately, believing a fresh start elsewhere is the best solution.
