Heavy rain triggered a flash flood that swept away the aunt of famed southern Thai singer Bao Wei while she was fishing at Prai Sawan waterfall. Her body was discovered more than 2.5 km downstream after a six‑hour search involving officials and hundreds of villagers. The incident occurred on October 18, 2069 around 4:00 pm after she had been missing since early afternoon. The aunt, identified as 60‑year‑old Suphatra (surname withheld), had gone fishing with her sister when the floodwaters rose rapidly. Her sister managed to cross the makeshift bridge, but Suphatra was caught by the current and carried away. Rescue teams, including police, local administrators, and volunteers, searched the area under difficult conditions due to heavy rain and strong currents. The Trang provincial governor issued a warning about heavy rain and possible flash floods in the southern region, urging residents to avoid waterways and prepare for emergencies. He also provided hotline numbers for disaster assistance.
